I know Lee Kepler makes leather bag straps and Noel Howard used to, but wasn't there another member of the forum who makes them and sells them online too? It seems to me that I saw a post a while back, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know?

hey bud, if its just the strap you are looking for, I am sure I could make one up for you as I am making one as a gift for a friend in the next couple of weeks. I just have to get the color staining right first then we're there !...I am just trying to find a buckle source for right now, of which luck is not meeting my way

Anyhow PM me and I could figure out a cost.

I'm interested to know just how many screw posts or rivets were used on the original strap. The one on this website shows two side by side while the Kepler strap shows one anchoring each end. Does anyone know?

I was just wondering, Does anyone have a Strap from Todds Costumes? I ordered one myself, it was shipped tuesday since of the holidays and i'm waiting to get it. i found the link on an old post that was locked, so it didnt give any opinions on anything ordered from there. They carry the Wpg bag for like 1 dollar less but also have an extra strap thats lightly distressed for only $20. what do they mean by satin sheen? if you dont have patience they seem to have them in constant supply and ready to ship, it would have been sent already if i didnt order a day before july 4th. If i dont like it ill have a 2nd replacement strap and have to order a keppler, but figured might as well give it a try.

This screenshot shows one rivet near the buckle, most likely one was fixed at the other end too by the prop department:

Yeah, me too. The Todd's Costumes' strap has two rivets instead of one, aside from that it looks pretty good. Of course, I enjoyed making my own...

I have 2 straps from Todd's Costumes. They are very good looking, but I have yet to bring them in the field as they are on my "Emergency Backup" MK VII's. These are made from the same leather that ladies handbags are made from. Since I have not used them I cannot comment on color transfer to a very expensive shirt or durablity. They look terrific for what that is worth...but I have used my home-made strap that was handcut for me by an elderly leather worker in Haverhill, Ma. He only charged me $1.00 each (I got 4) and for another $1.00 I got a buckle at Joann's Fabric. Maybe sentimental value, I do not know. You can be the first to post a review!

Im still using the strap that comes with the wpg bag, its fine but i like that the one from todd seems darker and a lil distressed to make the wpg bag look more like a vintage mkvii. i hope when you say made from ladies handbag leather its just the material and doesnt actually look like a ladies handbag strap. i should have it in a few days and ill wear it a while and let everyone know how it holds up. when i heard satin sheen it makes me think of something sprayed lightly to give it shine, but why would you want it to shine. I have no idea what satin sheen means. Guess i should look it up.

I have seen Scandinavia Jones' strap from this guy in real life and I must say it looks very nice. I bet he'll chime in later and give us a small review, right SJ?

Someone here posted a comparison between Noel Howards strap and the Keppler strap. Noel's has the same grooved edges and a very similar belt buckle to Todds. could he have possibly purchased the straps from Noel and have some left in stock? Noel no longer makes them right? maybe he based his authenticity off of the Noel strap.


p.s.looking at the main gear page, the Todd's costume strap looks alot like noel's including the lightly distressed nickel belt buckle. and they both do have grooves on the edges. holding the pictures side by side only difference i see is Todd's seems a little more darker.

Hi, I figured ill use this post so not to waste space with another post.
I recieved Todds MkVII replacement strap and been using it since thursday. So far its working out really good for me and looks great. the strap is much more flexible then the original, although im carrying the original just incase . I like that it is much darker on both sides of the strap and the buckle looks really good. Like i said before it looks alot like the pics of Noel Howards i seen. So far the only problem i had with it getting on my shirts is loose little pieces(really really small pieces) of leather falling off as it moves around my shoulder but they have been brushed off easily. I havent got it wet yet though. I think the leather pieces are just from the first day and most of it seem to stoped.

The belt buckle slides very easy across the strap and cant decide if i like this or not. Since the original felt more secure, but its very easy to adjust. But for $20 and recieving it in 2 days i like it very much.

Hanging from a turret of a tank i feel the original might be stronger since it feels thicker, but could be since the original doesnt seem as broken in. I plan on getting todds midwest 608's next in about a week too. My favorite part would be the buckle since it looks much more authentic and the color looks better on the bag. I cant believe how much a bag strap's detail has got my attention This has become my bag i carry everywhere and is my favorite item i own atm. People have also noticed the strap and said it looks much better.

Someone new at work noticed the bag and said thats cool wheres it from....I said ill give you hint and sang the raiders theme and they went raiders?! Yep, its indys bag. I dont have a camera so no pics maybe sometime in the future..

Ok good then it isnt just me, i thought it seemed thinner.

You could always enforce the part where the strap attaches to the buckle using an extra layer of leather around the center bar. This way it will allow you to have a thinner strap if you want to without the buckle sliding around when carrying heavier loads in your bag. I did this to my black thin ToD strap with the bigger slider buckle and it works great. If anyone is interested I could shoot a photo later and post it.

Well, more and more turns up as I go along so the answer would have to be yes.

I've been VERY busy with stuff lately but I will have a pic up very soon, aswell as a shot of my beautiful 405's.
