Chuffed doesn't even begin to describe it...

At 4:45pm today, my new Raiders Authentic Goat jacket arrived. :)

This is my third Wested and the last I will need for a long while - you know what they say, third time lucky! ; These are the specs-

Authentic Brown Goatskin
Two-piece underarm gussets
Two inside pockets, right side 'Grail Diary' size
Hidden press-studs and top and bottom of storm flap
Tapered sleeves for a nice tight fit at the cuff
Smaller Collar 2" at tip
Cotton body, satin sleeves
Black D-rings, bronze zipper
43" chest (yes, not a 42 or a 44 - a 43"!)
Close fitting 80's styling (I don't like an excess of material under my arms).

And.....(drum roll).....it's absolutely PERFECT, fits like a glove...erm., jacket...

The authentic brown goat is beautiful - not stiff at all, in fact not a million miles away from my lamb when it first arrived and a lot less stiff than my dark brown cowhide. It drapes well already, it's nice and light - and it feels tough as a...well, a goat! And a ninja goat at that! After reading so many posts regarding the shine of the goat, I was expecting something which looked like ‘pleather’ out of the bag, but on the contrary the authentic goat really isn't much more shiny than any other hide I have ordered from Wested - perhaps a tiny amount more shine if I'm being very fussy, but nothing to write home about.

Wested have really accommodated all my wishes, from the precise taper of the sleeves (I like the sleeve holes quite narrow, just think it looks better that way) to the custom length of the jacket ending .75" below the top of the back trouser pocket (for me, this is ideal).

So, a big THANK YOU to Peter, Gerry, Jerry and all at the fabulous Wested Leather Co. for coming up trumps once again and delivering what is to me, the perfect Indiana Jones jacket. Thanks guys.

I've already thanked them on the phone, but a jacket like this deserves as many thanks as I can muster!

Wish I had my digital camera handy to take some shots...

You gotta love the ABG.
And the shine will come out quite quickly with wear, at least mine did after a bit of rain and some leather dressing.
I look forward to each time I get to wear mine and break it in even more.
Congratulations on what seems to be a great and beloved jacket!

Now, where are those pics? :D

Swindiana

Very nice, even with the small pics! Now you can be an "official" Indy stuntman with your two piece gussets! Honestly, the gussets look much better than I thought they would. Now get out there and start swinging from poles and giant statues!

'Chuffed' doesn't describe it at all for me. I assume it means 'pleased?'

Chuff -To produce or move with noisy puffing or explosive sounds

Perhaps it is a parallell to trains and a steam engine just boiled up and waiting to... GO!
That kind of happy? :)

Agreed. With that description, we've been chuffed for years, haven't we Bufflehead? Regards. Michaelson

Yes, I imagined that the term 'chuffed' might tickle the fancy of my American cousins...

I've experienced this with other American friends of mine.

'Chuffed' means, simply put - very pleased. A very common expresion here in the UK, used all the time. It has nothing to do with steam engines...

Or older, winded Americans? How odd. :-k  Regards. Michaelson

Whew! I'm pleased as a locomotive that I found out what it really meant... I could have made a fool of myself, you know. *Choo, choo*

Hey, here's a thought: next time you order a Wested or HJ, tell them how chuffed you are!

They will be chuffed!

I tried to wear my Wested goat today, and it's so humid in the Northeast, that I got "chafed". That makes me very UN-chuffed :(

Charred and chafed and un-chuffed, I would say.

You know...we're probably the only Alden owners that get chuffed when our boots get scuffed.

Hee Hee....

And just to complicate matters further, the opposite of chuffed is…

dischuffed Adj. Displeased. Cf. 'chuffed'.

This information could save your life one day.

I had to reply to this as I role around the floor,
I didnt think I would find it so funny to hear people discuss the word
'chuffed' and think that was funny. how wrong can one be.
As ob1 said it is a well used phrase over hear.

So I am chuffed to bits that it has put a smile on my face.

Okay, I got all of it except for the "check me whistle for creases". I think it has to do with pants, but I can't figure out which word it rhymes with.
