just got off the phone after having ordered my second wested.
The first one was the raiders version, this time ive gone for the ToD Lamb.
Talked to Gerry, wich received my order, very nice girl....

Also throw in a couple of indy pants and a shirt.
Hope i can post some pics when i get the stuff

When i get the shirt and pants, the only thing missing is the famous fedora +bag+gunholster+whip and......ptrrroooo...hold my horses!

That will make two ToD Lamb ones in Sweden then with Scandinavia having one in his possession. Only one ToD goat as far as I know though. Hah! Congratulations!

No, I'm in Luleå. Scandinavia is in Uppsala though, that being the friendly guy and not the whole bit of nations.... PM him and maybe you could hook up. Remember to take A LOT of pics if you do!

Nothing like a crisp, new Wested... beauty in it's essence.
Mine was just as smooth and nice until I tried Swindiana's Patented Rain-distressing Method®. It worked, actually - jacket has a better fit and a slight "character" to the leather...

Rain, PLUS backpacking in Helsinki is really the best method.
Do it at your own risk though, I wouldn't go snorkling around in the southern parts of Sweden with it right now.

Used regularly since I got it, once for 30 minutes in slightly heavier rain and another time occasionaly in rain during a whole day wearing a backpack:

I did nothing special about it. The first time was on a night out and it just hung in the closet during my stay at the place. It rained lightly on the way home too and I just put it on my coat hanger when I got back after wearing it just a little while longer indoors, just believing it would hold it's shape better. The leather didn't absorb any water at the time that I could see or feel, but the humidity seemed to shape it nicely around my upper body. It is goat and therefore probably more water repellant than lamb but I guess it would work the same way if you go easy on a lamb one too. I didn't go: -And now on to the rain-distressing part, but it rather just happened as I could tell from the first drop of rain that the water wouldn't penetrate the jacket and that I therefore didn't have to worry about ruining the jacket. I hope I haven't started anything with people trying to wet down their jackets and ruin them here... The rain has given my goat jacket a nice look and feel to it, as with SJ's very nice lamb jacket, though the general opinion is not to mix water and leather.
I would say that the method rather quickens the drape and shaping around the body more than it distresses the leather, even though the shine goes away quicker. Lately I put another layer of dressing on it to re-soften the sleeves a bit as they got slightly stiff some weeks later.
It is nice and softer than ever and feels like a second skin on me now! Wait... it IS!

I second that. Went out in a - I believe the word is frogstrangler - and soaked myself. As Swindy already stated, the "new jacket" shine wore off and it seems the jacket shaped a bit around body. Also, the sleeves shortened just enough - right up to the thumb joint. Sleeves look more like they're "my size" and still no ride-up problems. Besides, the sleeves were all nice and "wrinkled", and side strap tension marks make the backplate look kinda cool... Also, the once smooth lambskin texture "matured" a bit, looking worn but not torn...

Are you using Pecards before wearing out in the rain?

It looks like the rain shrunk Swindiana's jacket quite a bit but it looks like a better fit now(IMHO)

Actually, I used a light layer of this product since Pecard's was a little hard to come by:

I haven't tried out Pecard's for comparison but I guess they work pretty much the same way. I'm happy with it at least.
I'm not sure what Scandy used or is using though, if anything.

It does look like a better fit, doesn't it? The funny thing is I still have an equal amount of space inside for a thicker sweater. Go figure... Thanks.

I didn't use anything. Usually, a new leather jacket has an initial waxing/treatment that lasts about a year. I don't want to over-use any waxes or conditioners on a new garment - I'll let the jacket develop a little character first...

Guess I'll Pecard my jacket once every year or so.

I think I'll take your advice on that from now on, Scandy. Being that the goat is pretty stiff from the beginning compared to lamb I wanted it soft enough for my likings. It now is and I think it is tough enough to last another year before needing to condition it again.

Do you have any recent shots of it for display? Amzing jacket, if you ask me.

I,ve had mine raiders lamb in rain, snow...and more rain, i even took it in for a little shower under the bathroom hose.
I must say that it,s definetly got a more natural and used look now, it has that curved look on the collar also.

Just think how many different weather climats indy,s jacket must have been trough huh?

Just be REAL careful not to get in a gully washer rain with your lambskin. We've had reports of folks who did wear theirs in a real downpour, only to discover that the dye in the leather had released onto their shirt underneath, making what was once a nice MBA example into a brown mess. Lambskin is not rain gear by any stretch of the imagination....but with care, it's still (as described above) a hard working garment.
