Well I finally found the time to take some pictures of the Raiders cotton jacket. The album also has pictures of my Akubra, shrunken DP official lid, and brand new WPG bag. Also, for those Harry Potter fans in the audience, I have pictures from the Prisoner of Azkaban red carpet premiere. Enjoy!

I am amazed how good that cotton jacket looks. It definitely has the look of a true Indy-style jacket. I may need to acquire one of those for summer adventures.

Dude, those were some seriously sweet gear pics in action. Indy Gear never looks better than when it is being worn out and about! And the cotton raiders looks great from a little distance you have a hard time distinguishing it from leather!

Got to admit, it's also one of those items that gets REAL comfortable with wear, and in a VERY short time. Peter really hit a homerun on this particular jacket, in my opinion, but then I'm a little bias. (grins) Regards. Michaelson

Gus- Funny you should say that- my friends always make me do shorty impressions, but imo i think my godbrother looks morel ike shorty than i do.

I really like this jacket. THe only problem i seem to have sometimes is the lining's sag. THe polyester lining sometimes sags almost to the point where it would show under the front. This is probably due to the softness of the cotton after I washed it. I starched and ironed the bottom hem of the jacket to keep it stiff, so that this problem isnt as bad. It may also be due to the pocket on the inside pulling the lining down. I also had some problems with the side straps when they were too soft, but once i ironed them out, they held without a problem. I should probably get some scotchgard, but i havent been able to find any in my area ( i can only find the kind for carpets)
Those pics are actually of the heavy brush outside of my backyard after a good thunderstorm on Sunday, and the sand is there because they are re-paving my driveway, and had to tear the old asphalt out.
I also have a short 30 second movie of me running down a hill, recreating the running from hovitos scene in Raiders (without the naked indians....)
Enjoy,
Ray

Just curious...why did you wash it? It's recommended as a 'dry clean only' type garment, (tag says so inside), though Peter says with caution, it CAN be washed on gentle cycle, then hung on a hanger to dry rather than in a dryer. If you dried it in your dryer, more than likely the cotten drew up a bit, where the lining would not, causing the lining to sag from underneath the front of your jacket. Sounds like a sound bit of reasoning for recovery on your part. If you didn't ask for a zipper on your inside pocket, that can be easily fixed by sewing a strip of Velcro inside the top of the pocket. You can then keep the pocket closed when not in use, and it will help keep the lining from sagging.
I did this on my prototype, and it did the job, short of having a zipper installed. I have since requested zippers to be added to the pocket, and the problem was solved.
Definitely keep looking for Scotchgard, or like product. You can actually find the outdoor garment Scotchgard in the green can in your local Wal-Mart sporting goods section around the tent sales area. Werid! :?
Like I said, just curious. Regards. Michaelson

Was it dry clean only? My jacket doesn't seem to have that label, and I asked Gerry if there was a particular way to clean it, and Gerry said just cool wash, hang dry, cool iron. I hung it for about 2 days instead of drying it.
I washed it because i added some silicon waterproofing spray that does the same thing as scotchgard, but it left the jacket with an alcoholic odor for about 3 days. I finally decided to wash it, as the smell wasn't coming out.
I think the velcro idea might work...I added starch and ironed it, but it doesn't seem to want to hold and the fabric gets loose again.
The lining poofs out and ends (when pulled out) and is just short of reaching the line of visibility, so I'm ok with it now. This is only the front right panel. On closer inspection, it looks like of line of the double stitching may have come out in that area. I think I may just have a tailor sew it back down some time in the future. I'm satisfied as of right now.

Does anyone know why my zipper is all squiggly? I hope its not becasue the jacket shrunk! I mean...the jacket doesn't feel any feel. THe sleeves and jacket end exactly where they did before the wash.

Yours doesn't? Interesting. Both my prototype, and my wifes have that tag sewn in the lining. Well, maybe they've made yet another change. I have another one in the works as we speak (with the right sleeve length this time :? ) and I'll see what I get. Definitely try the Velcro. It really helped the lining 'bag' in my prototype, and it's easy to install. Heck, I sat around in front of the TV one Sunday afternoon and sewed it in myself!  Regards. Michaelson

Well, his photos ARE a bit better than mine (considering the only one I've had made is the one in my avitar, which you can't see! ) Maybe as Mike continues his work on the mainsite, he can highjack these fine photos for the main jacket area as examples of the cotton jacket. GREAT angles! Regards. Michaelson

I'm not sure. Originally there was only going to be an option of different collars, but since then I think they've allowed these additional changes to be added as options as orders have picked up. I haven't heard anything regarding an option for lining though. You could drop Peter a line and ask. Regards. Michaelson

Jack, that ebay link says it's invalid.

Here are some pics of me with my Cotton Wested taken this past winter (I'm not sure if I've posted these before).

Thanks, Michaelson! Actually I bought it from another COWer last fall. I've really enjoyed this jacket as it makes a great lightweight jacket, while allowing you to retain an Indyesque style.

So tell me....is it just me, or does the Wested feel about half the weight of the cotton Wings, considering you also own both versions? Regards. Michaelson

by Indiana Texas-girl
I wouldn't say half the weight but the US Wings does feel a tad heavier. The material on the WEsted is more "flowy"; whereas, the USWings is a bit more stiff although that could be contributed to the fact that the US Wings one has hardly been worn since the jacket is a bit too big in the shoulders on me. The Wested definitely fits better. So if anyone is interested in buying a US Wings Cotton Indy (size L), give me shout.

I've been kinda of thinking of doing the same thing, if mine weren't one of the prototypes. Kind of hate letting it go for that reason. :? Regards. Michaelson

I know what you mean. I just never wear my USW but in a way I'd like to keep it since I'm sure one day they'll be unavailable and it's kinda nice having 2 different cotton Indys but I never wear the USW one.

Are you thinking of letting your Wested or your USWings go? If you're talking about your Wested, I might be interested in buying it if it's a size 42. I have a size 44 one and I have lost about 20 pounds since those pictures above were taken and the jacket is starting to get roomier.

No, the Wings was the one I was talking about. I have another cotton Wested in process, and D.Jones has already put in dibs for the cotton prototype (and does that surprise you? :? ) Regards. Michaelson

Well, it'll be in good hands with D. Jones. Maybe she'll wear it on an archaeological dig when the weather cools off.

Awesome Cotton jacket, and thanks everyone for sharing them!

Hey there ITG, I was right there in Disney where you can get your pics taken with the Disney characters just last year! If I remember, I think it was in the Magic Kingdom and go into "Toon Town"......

In some shots, I agree that the cotton Indy jacket looks almost like a leather jacket! :D

Kind Regards,
Captain D

The Eeyore shot was there but the Pooh one was actually at Epcot inside a shop in England, which is kinda hidden.
