Hi guys,
I'm heading to the UK soon.
I can't decide which is best- visit Wested and get measured up there, picking my jacket up at a later date, or measuring up myself and submitting sizings etc via the normal website to pick up from Wested as soon as I land in the UK.

I'm really not sure what to do... any advice?

I would be inclined to send my measurements first and time it so the jacket is ready for collection in person.

This way, you can try on the new jacket whilst at the Wested shop - if it needs any alteration, the experts are there to see first hand exactly what needs to be done.

I highly recommend that you get measured when you visit, then get the jacket sent out if you can't go back to pick up in person.

Make sure that Peter will be available to do the measurement. He's a lovely bloke, and there is surely nothing better than getting measured for your jacket in person by the man who measured Harrison Ford.

My experience was that Peter's measurements were absolutely spot-on, and I couldn't be happier with my (2nd) Wested.

I'd get measured by Peter so that you'll know it'll fit spot on. If you measure you might make an error and then you'd end up having to have him measure you anyway to make adjust ments, so you'd have to re-wait for it.

Either way, you get to meet Peter! I'd be inclined to let him do the measuring. You can also tell him what concerns, options, preferences, etc., you have and he'll be able to provide you with the perfect jacket from the beginning!

Is this your first Wested? If not, you may feel confident enough with your measurements to forward them ahead (Wested also keep them on file by the way) with any changes you would like to make?

But then again, I'm always a little impatient when it comes to a new Wested I'm sure the previous posts advising getting measured by Peter is sound advice.

I did the same when I visited Flighsuits last summer. I went there, had them measure me first, then put in my order. And voila, it fit like a glove, or should I say fit like a jacket?

Instant gratification is always nice, but I'd wait and order in person with a proper fitting from the guy that made the original himself. The wait shouldn't be that long, and besides, you know it'll fit when it arrives.

And personally, that was half the fun at Flightsuits for me. Many of us have an Indy Jacket of some sort, but how many were fitted in person at Wested?

Yeah- this is my first Wested. I thought it be better to wait a couple of years until I could get one fitted personally and also not pay the crazy import duties on shipping a leather jacket into Australia. I'll be wearing it home on the plane!
At the last moment I wasn't sure what I should be doing and thought maybe I would go for the 'instant gratification' route as I'd been holding back on ordering for so long. I'm sure you know the 'I want it all to happen now' feeling. So I found myself in the land of indecision. It'd be nice to be able to have the jacket for the full length of my stay (two months) but- a few weeks won't be hard to wait.
So, back to being patient- geez, it's like waiting for Santa Claus all over again. At least we can afford to be spoilt for choice- it'll be my only self-indulgence while there- so it'll be one with extra chocolate ;-).

Some good news - the wait may not be as long as you imagine from being measured to collecting your jacket..

I just ordered a new authentic goatskin, and Jerry tells me the turnaround time is only 2 weeks at the moment.
