Wasn't working for some but it looks to be working now.
I was in Washington DC last week and finally got the chance to see Indy's jacket and hat. Said it was from Raiders but I don't think so, if you look at the top of storm flap you can see a snap, there was at bottom as well so I belive this was from LC, but who cares it was awsome to finally see it. Every time I've gone to the Smithsonian of natural History its never been on display. Also if you view my other shots you'll see me in my Wested predistressed Raider cow hide jacket and some others of my gear.
My first time w/pics. So enjoy.

Is there a 'Public' setting you could try activating? There is probably a cookie with granted access for you since you're the owner and that makes your browser display them without any trouble, as in 'logged in' all the time.
Try the public setting, or perhaps see if there is a password you could hand out that doesn't effect the account but only the viewing status.

Kind regards,
Swindy

Short and wide. And what's Spock doing there behind it?

To Hemingway Jones: There was a Star Trek phaser pistol in the same display as the jacket and hat, so they naturaly put a pic of some Star Trek character behind it and who better than o'l pointy ears.

Thanks Croft,
I figured it was something like that, but I thought it was funny anyway. You think they could have sprung for its own display case. Anyway, great picture. I need to get down there one of these days and see it.

How about June 6th? :) That's the day I'll be there... (sorry, shameless roadtrip plug) - Sign up now in the Events Section. I now return this thread to it's normal program....

You know, Minnesota, I can think of no better time to be there. I would definitely like to meet you. Our paths will meet one of these days, perhaps at the QM..? -If I can pull that one off.

Yup, those were the buggers I saw, sitting right next to the Spock phaser. I took some hi-rez pics of the thing if anyone wants them emailed to them. Have to agree though, doesn't look like Raiders at all !

I'm not surprised that the Smithsonian misidentified what movie the jacket is from. They also have had a "Classic" Trek Phaser II on display for a number of years that is actually a replica built by an unauthorized vendor in the '70s that identify as an actual TV series prop. I know that several collectors have pointed this out to them, and have offered references to back up their claim, but as far as I know, they haven't changed the attribution.

Don't get me started on the "restoration" they hired someone to do on the original Enterprise model. The "restorers" added features that never actually existed on the original model because they believe they were supposed to be there.

I think the Smithsonian is slightly embarressed by all the attention the media exhibits get and don't really have the interest in them that they do the more traditional historical displays.

They do not care as long as the majority of the public believes the signs. I doubt they are going to label the phaser as a replica - who would bother to look at it? A bigger doubt is that they will be able to find actual screen-used props after all of these years. Why ruin the exhibit for the majority who think they are looking at originals? Harrison is thin and his jacket was pretty form-fitting, so I had my doubts when I first saw the picture, but pictures can do funny things - especially if stretched to fit. Maybe this will fit him for the next Indy movie  . Has anybody tried to match some of the obvious distressing of this jacket with the movie jacket? I am looking at the right side of the collar (left side in the picture) up by the neck it looks like he had a close call with a vampire. Has anybody seen these two marks in the movies jacket?

I believe it was from the lost Indy movie "Indiana Jones and the Son of Dracula."

But I could be wrong.

Wouldn't that be the 1985 Find Your Fate book, Indiana Jones and the Cup of the Vampire? Just kidding. Actually, I have seen those two distressed dots on the jacket in the movie, although offhand I can't cite a specific scene to look at. I actually used the Smithsonian pics on another site as a guide when I distressed my own Wested, and it turned out pretty good, too!

Could be tears from hanger marks where that particular jacket hung in Lucas's warehouse before he donated it to the museum. Remember, there is a RACK full of used LC jackets at the Ranch. This was just one of the many...Regards. Michaelson

Turned out "pretty good?" That jacket of yours is a work of art! "It belongs in a museum!"

Well, I was trying to be modest. Thank you for the compliment, though. :)
