Will Pecards swell (enlarge) my jacket?

Dear All,
I am about to apply some Pecards Antique Dressing to my Wested Raider and also to a 12 year old A2 (both goat). I think it will be ok to use this product (others not available in UK?) though I think it best to apply it sparingly. My question is, if the dressing enters the fibres of the leather, will it enlarge the jackets noticably? Is it a bit like water swelling wood? Both my jackets fit excellently at present...

Regards to all,

If it increased the size of a jacket, then just imaging how many "growing" gearheads would hold onto their first jacket! It's a miracle creame!

Honestly, when I put my first coating of Pecards on my Wested I didn't notice anything which made me think the jacket was getting any larger. As for an older coat, the Pecards should add more life to your garmet, but I see no reason why it should increase in size. If your jackets fit perfectly now, they'll fit perfectly after you coat them. They'll just be happier and more flexible, as they originally were.

Thanks for that, binkmeisterRick. "They'll just be happier and more flexible" - well that's been the effect on me of finding this forum and getting a Wested! I'll tell you all the story of what a simple thing like an interest in leather jackets has done for me sometime!

To be more blunt, no, it will not make your jacket swell. It can add physical weight, (ozs, nothing terrible), and the jell and standard dressing are the products that will do that), but swell? no. Regards. Michaelson
