Yes! The whip has arrived!

Well, Indypip's bullwhip arrived today. Mum is seemingly pretty happy. We've gone and 'tested' it in the back garden and dad was kind enough to let us all have a go. Mum had a turn, and she went mad
! There was an evil glint in her eye, and she began to whip parts off her plants! My little sister got frightened and locked herself in the bathroom
, which (Luckily) made mum realize that she went a little mad. But the main reason I posted this thing is for any tips or sites that help you learn how to use the whip properly.
Thanks,

Howdy there Cat! Two great videos are by Mark Allen: How to Crack a Bullwhip Volumes I and II. Both are available from USWings, Mark Allen Productions, and I'm sure a few other places as well. About $19.95 U.S. dollars each.
Lets just say I'd be hitting my back with the whip each time I'd try it if it wasn't for these tapes!!!
Congrats!

And I double that recommendation. You have to get a firm foundation on the first four cracks on the first tape. The 2nd tape builds on those four. After the Alex Green/Mark Allen tapes, then I would recommend:
- Mike Murphy's "The Fundamentals of Whip Cracking"
- Mike Murphy's "No Bull Whip Cracking"
- Delongis tapes "Mastering the Bullwhip Series, Vol. I & II"
- Peter Jack "The Ways of the Whip, Vol. I & II"
Also, there are a few websites that have a few cracks online for you to look at:
http://www.bullwhip.org/faq/cracking.html
You can look at the above link. However, I would go ahead and order the Alex Green tapes. The link is really no replacement for the quality for the above tapes.
BTW, I will be updating the main IndyGear Whip section to have reviews on all the above tapes, and books. I will get around to that in the fall timeframe. And of coure, just from this subject alone, the whip tutorial will be completed. The current one at the website was just a placeholder.
And, IndyCat and IndyPip, make sure to wear goggles and a hat when first starting out. I can share with you that I have personally suffered a severe injury from whipcracking (retinal bleed). Not fun...

You know, after 13 years of marriage, you think you'd know your wife wouldn't you?
Of course, a bunch of flowers is always a good touch, but not to get a harsh word for buying a whip was something of a surprise - mind you the fact that the wrong (and so much cheaper) price was on the packaging helped.
But boy oh boy, did I get a shock when my better half took up the whip.
Sheesh, the Cairo hired-hands would NOT have stood a chance.
Oh yeah, and Indycat found out how to whip herself on her backside - very funny

Thanks for the sites and stuff
. And Indypip, whne I whipped my 'backside' it wasn't funny ! That hurt!
Anyway, I've been the closest to making the whip crack.
Nyah!

Be careful, but still have fun! The first time you get it to crack is a wonderful rush! And on the two Mark Allen tapes again, I still haven't watched the 2nd one yet, I'm finally getting the circus crack on the first tape (already can do the other 3) and until I master all 4 of them, I don't want the 2nd tape putting any "crazy ideas" into my head until I'm ready for 'em! Good luck!

Thanks Minnosta!
I'm trying to find the time to watch the vidoe that came with dad's whip, which is proving to come in handy.

See, it all turned out fine.
Women will surprise you guys sometimes....I went out to the shooting range with HJS and his friend yesterday (my first time shooting a gun, ever. It was fun. Gives you a healthy respect for them, for sure.) I'm glad your wife likes it!!

Thanks Maryon, it's not like my dearest and nearest doesn't like Indy (I mean that would be grounds for divorce
), it's just spending so much cash on something that's just a hobby / obsession is hard to justify on a measly budget.
Still I am willing to buy her the Marion dress (by the way, you looked great in it), but so far she ain't biting.
