Cotton Wested: Michaelson finally talked me into it...

Post by Mulceber »

Okay, being a teenager, my budget is somewhat constrained, and considering the fact that I'm still growing, spending about $250 on a Jacket is a little steep (even if it is the cheapest price-wise). It seems the Cotton Wested is the way to go for me (at least for now). I've checked Peter's site, but it seems the Cotton one's the only one they don't have a price listed for. Thinking back, I seem to remember a price being mentioned before, somewhere around $100 (I could well be wrong). Could someone tell me the price (range) of a Cotton Wested? :junior: -IJ

On Wested's Jacket page there's a link to the cotton Indy jacket. It says it's about $85 with about $25 more for postage (I'm sure the price will depend on the exchange rates). I'd get it now as it seems exchange rates between US and other countries isn't getting any better for Americans. I have a Cotton Indy and love it! This is the perfect time of the year to get as it'll make a great spring and fall lightweight jacket.

It’s relatively inexpensive and more versatile than the leather version. This may sound crazy, but here’s how I arrived at my jacket size: I took a chest measurement while wearing a t-shirt under a button-up shirt and flexing like a pro-wrestler. It came out to 47 ½ inches- somewhere between a 46R and 48R. (Look at the sizing charts on the Wested website and you’ll see what I mean.) I have a long torso so I opted for a jacket length similar to that of the ToD version (the Raiders jacket length is too short for me). The fit of my custom jacket is great, I can move comfortably, touch my elbows together, stuff like that. And if you’re not happy about the fit and want to return it for a rework, I recommend regular US mail. Sure it takes 4-6 weeks but shipping is about seven bucks!

We tune in now to see Michaelson once again hiding under his scarred and battle torn desk, mumbling under his breath....'I hope he likes the jacket....I hope he likes the jacket....I hope he likes the jacket....'  High regards. Michaelson

Don't worry, Michaelson. After checking out the Wested links and actually seeing pics of the jacket, it looks like a great jacket to own! However, I think I better wait, or treat my wife to something REALLY nice before I buy any more gear. bink

It's unlikely. Usually items sent in the mail costing less than $100 or so get a quick glance, then are sent on their way. It's the above $100 stuff that they want their 'pound of flesh' customs fees for, and those are the ones that get the going over paperwork wise. :? You should have your coat/hat in had in good order. Congratulations! Regards. Michaelson

On the cotton Wested can i just order my size or do i have to be measured by a seamstress like it seems most of you do for the leather version? I wear a 48R do i need to order one size larger? I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks,

I would advise ordering one size larger. I gave my true measurements when I ordered the first time (44R) and had to return it for fear of ripping out the back. I think I finally specified a 46 or 47, can't remember. If you find that your sleeves are slightly too long it is quite possible to shorten them without sending it back or sending it to tailor, just need an iron and starch. (The shell can be pushed up the sleeve if needed.)
