Hello Fellow Indy fans!

I hope you are all doing great

So I know this is a silly question haha. But I am on a weight loss journey lately so I don't want to buy many pants that later will be too big. my waist is by far what gets affected the most. with shirts and jackets I don't have so much problem but pants every kg makes a difference haha.
Also screen accurate indy pants look horrible on me. believe I have tried several pairs \

there are some pants that look better on me and kind of look like more modern version of indy pants. but as I said I am not buying new pants for now until I reach a stable weight.
The cargo pants I wear in the picture are kind of a similar color to indy and are comfortable for every day and adventures. So I just wanted to know for curiosity what is the general opinion of indy gear users about this kind of pants while dressing as indy?

EDIT: I phrased better some parts to make the question clearer and don't seem that I am asking about cargo pants in general and specifically about when dressing as indy.

I regularly wear cargo pants. I have two pairs - dark olive and tan. I don't wear them with my Indy shirt though. I prefer a t-shirt and a checkered shirt.

I think the first thing to say is, you can wear whatever you like.

That said, if you were cosplaying Indy and you had the jacket right... and the shirt right... and the boots right... and the hat right... and the bag right... and so on... to do something weird with the pants would be a bit odd. In a similar vein I see it at cons all the time; people who do an excellent cosplay (not just Indy, but all sorts of stuff), and then just wear sneakers with it. Arrgghhh!!!

So, personally, if this was a cosplay scenario, I wouldn't wear cargo pants. I'd see no point to getting it 90% right and then half-assing it. But if it was, "I'm going hiking and want to wear some Indy-ish gear..." that's different. I'd wear the cargo pants with a coloured shirt and modern hiking boots... and top that off with the jacket and/or the hat for the Indy vibe, but not an Indy cosplay

PS: Congrats on losing weight. It's an excellent thing to do at any stage of life.

I meant specifically with the indy pants. I don't have anything against cargo pants. they look good and are usually confy.

You don't like them with the indy shirt because of accuracy? or you don't like how it looks? you tried the tan with the shirt?

Thank you! I appreciate it! yes nothing to crazy but i can feel it affect me in some areas of life that it didn't used to be a problem. like sports and overall energy. and working as an animator being all day in the computer exercise makes me feel so much better haha.

Yeah. I had in mind for more on the day to day or going on a hike. if i go to a convention i will probably go with more accurate ones. but i was just asking since I am curious what fellow indy gears heads like. i usually have something indy with me all the time, mostly the bag and hat. the shirt too depending on the weather. as for the jacket waiting for my S&J!

I prefer to wear only one 'adventure' item at one time. I like to wear Indy shirt with jeans and brown cardigan. Indy shirt and cargo pants would be too much for my taste.

I always quite liked the combination of a tee shirt, cardigan, and the leather jacket over green fatigues....That always looked quite cool to me, but I don't think I'd choose to wear the shirt with that set, and probably wouldn't tuck my shirt into my cargo pants..That's about all though! It looks fine!

I regularly wear cargos, tan od, brown with a Azuma shirt from any of the movies, Indy jacket and my Fedora.
No whip, gotta draw the line somewhere

Here in the land of Carhartt, I'm currently living in my buffalo-plaid flannel-lined cargo pants. After enough break-in and washings, they're like pajamas that are rated to minus-10. One pocket is dedicated to poop bags.

These things take time. I trained my last dog to use a bucket (outdoors, of course). The new pup already has her own fave spot, so there's possibilities.
Back to the thread: amen to the ripstop Wranglers. Stumbled across them at Target, of all places.

Wow, very nice looking.

Truth is, you can wear full original Indy outfit without a hat and you will not look like Indy. And you can wear cargo pants with white shirt, bag and Fedora and people will think that you are dressed as Indy, so do whatever you feel comfortable in your situation, but for cosplaying definitely wear accurate pants and other outfit pieces.

Yep, I catch them on drawer knobs mostly... but I do hook things into them from time to time (fly swat in the summer!) so I leave them as-is.

This is couple years old, but this is would something I'd wear with out hesitation and have done so.



Mean while I'm going to look into the Wrangler cargo's, I love my cargos with lot's of pocket.

My main criteria is a watch pocket. Wrangler Riggs has an excellent one.

I think you'll find a lot of us are outdoor types and lean toward the utilitarian when it comes to our daily wardrobe. It's like the gearhead version of the chick/egg question; Am I like this because of Indy, or do I like Indy because I was born this way?

Personally, I'm not a fan of cargo pants, but that has more to do with comfort than anything else. I don't like a bulging pockets down around my knees. It throws me off balance (if that makes sense), and I prefer a sleeker silhouette. However, I can almost always be found wearing Carhartt ripstop utility pants, and they have plenty of concealed pockets. For my money, Carhartt is the last vestige of quality workwear left in this day and age, and I recommend them every chance I get.

Up top I'm either wearing a two-pocket flannel and/or a solid earth tone tee. I prefer boots year round. Usually Timberland hiking boots or Wolverine work boots. Most of my other jackets and hats are either WW2 military reproductions or militaristic in their design. So there's definitely an Indy influence in my daily wear, outside of the office.

As far as costume pieces for daily wear, I really only wear the jacket when the weather permits. I do wear my Fed whenever I'm hiking or camping, which I do throughout the year, so the Fed gets a lot of mileage. I prefer to keep the costume pieces in good shape for cosplay and display. The jacket is just one of those items that looks better the more you wear it, so I do wear it a lot during the fall and spring seasons.

I am not a 'it has to be exactly like 'Indy'-or-nothing-type-person... so, if cargo pants float your boat, then wear and enjoy them. I like cargos for certain things, times, etc. with or without other 'Indy-type-gear'. But that's me. Everyone needs to be themselves so if you like cargo's -- great. If you don't -- that's great too. Your call! W>

Never mattered to me. I always wear ‘Michaelson gear’ anyway, and always have.
