Hello all,
While this section is, obviously, 'geared' towards distressing and care, I was just curious if there were any discussions on generating 'how to' training videos on distressing, by chance?
Reason being, there seems to be a lot of general posts on gear care and distressing, but if there were, say for example, tutorial videos under this section it may enable folks with no experience the confidence (and instill pride) to distress items exactly the way they want them to be. For instance, how best to use acetone, sandpaper, & pads, etc. correctly on leathers, felt, & cotton followed by how best to care for an item after its been artificially aged.
In short, it boosts confidence for anyone wishing to try out this art, and, it enables those with that specialized knowledge and expertise to teach others their craft as a win-win. Such videos may be enjoyable for both those learning from the tutorials as well as members of the forum being engaged in producing such works. Just a thought.
Thank you,
Distressing Tutorial:

Re: Distressing Tutorial:
Funny you mention this as I recently got a bug in me about distressing my horsehide Wested LC that I bought all the way back in 2009.
I've slowly but surely working on it for about an hour or two in the evenings for the last few days. I have a pic of the Smithsonian jacket that I've been using as reference for the front but I haven't found any of the back. Anyone have one?
What I've been doing is using green scotch Brite pads cut into quarters. I've been focusing on edges & seams while going back to the pic to compare with how mine looks.
I found this video & while it's rather extreme it give a few good ideas even to the point I thought about wearing my jacket while being dragged behind my Jeep lol.
