Authentic Goat v. Authentic Lambskin

Post by LJHood »

Does anyone know if there is any color difference between the Authentic Goat and the Authentic Lambskin? I have the A.L. which I absolutely love. However, I was curious to see if the A.G. was the same color. Thanks.

The color is the same but the goat often looks "shinier" which usually isn't a good thing. The shine on the goat goes away with wear, though I have read that some people like to take it out with acetone  I'm in the long but hopefully rewarding process of naturally distressing my jacket.

Latley there has been something on my mind. I have the Wested A.L. and I love it. What's been bothering me is the fact that my pockets seem to be droopy and one of them kinda creased after a rainstorm when I first got it. I guess what had happened was I went out for dinner and my jacket was soaked from the rain, and in the restaurant there were no hangers anywhere. So I had no choice but to fold it over the booth. So I think that's the origin of the crease. Anyways, watching Raiders I can't help noticing that the jacket looks a little more heavier/durrable(sp?) in the movie than what I have. Is this all in my head or what? Michaelson , what's your take on this? My apologies LJ for stealing your post  .

We all start out that way, but it is a path that can be hard to follow - you must be pure of mind, pure of spirt and pure of chemicals!

If you only knew the power of the dark side!

I'm going to be in the market for my second Wested (my 1st is pre-distressed cow) I'm undecided, Auth. Lamb vs Auth. Goat
I want something I can wear during the warmer months in NewEngland
I know Lamb is thinner and
Goat is tougher but does this mean heavier.
Lamb is supposedly flater in apperance and goat is shinner.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh which one, Help me Obi-wan your my only hope.

If you plan on using it for the New England winter months, than I would suggest going with the goat. Not because it is heavier, or any warmer than lamb, but for the fact that it is very water resistant, as opposed to lamb, which would soak up moisture like a sponge.
So goat would be better than lamb for the cold wet winter, in my humble opinion.

Thanks IndyBlues, actully I wear my distressed cow in winter,
my new jacket will be more for the warmer week of the year. Kidding. As you know it can get humid in these here parts, I didn't know that the Lamb would soak up moisture like a sponge. Another point for Goat
What are the opinions of all of the shinyness of Goat, is it that hard to use acetone to dull it up?
Thanks

What the heck was I reading when I read your thread???
Man, I'm sorry. I must be losing it :P

Anyway, I think your better off with the lamb then, if you are planning on wearing a Wested in warmer weather. The lamb soaks up rain and snow, but I think if it is that humid, like it is here in Philly during the summer, than you probably won't be wearing a jacket at all.
Anyhow, I vote for the lamb. Sorry for my bout of complete paragraph dyslexia before.

.man problem no

would putting a coat of Pecards help.
Maybe the Lamb might be the way, I'll be sending my orriginal Wested to Peter for repairs and I'll have him get my measurments from jacket, all though from what I've read so far I think I'll have him add a inch to sleeve length, length now is at wrist.
Thanks
