1952 Marshall briefcase close-enough

Found this photo from 1952 Europe and it immediately reminded me of the Marshall briefcase…
I know it’s not the same, but makes me wonder how much these briefcases would have cost back in the day to be carried by schoolchildren as satchels post-WW2

Maybe war surplus?
Unrelated-the little guy on the left is sporting some Alden ‘close enoughs’!
