A Boot of a find!

I did a search on COW here just to see if this particular boot had ever been mentioned. I couldn't find it anywhere if it has been. This little beauty is made by B.A. Mason. I only knew of it because I remember working at Sears a few years ago with a guy that had these boots that always reminded me of Indy's boots. They're not too bad on the budget either, at around a $100 including shipping. Here's the link to the site, hope it works:
http://www.bamason.com/product.asp?fami ... =82&type=3
Never posted a link before so forgive me if it doesn't work. The style on that page that I'm refering to is the #950 6" brown leather regular-toe workboot. If I remember correctly from that coworker of mine, the soles were flat, no tread. So after being disappointed by the JCrew boots that have been discontinued, I purchased these baby's today. The wait time is 7-10 days. So I hope these aren't discontinued.
I'll try to provide plenty O' pics for those who might want to see them, cause their website doesn't give but the one pic.
Regards,

It's to bad they didn't include more pics, but I'll definitly get some posted. I'm really excited about them.
So far I haven't been sent a email saying they're out thank goodness. Glad to bring a new Indy boot option to my fellow gearheads. 7-10 days Bay-Be!!

Nice work, 81. I remember a few years ago someone had a pair of low cut Aldens. I like the low cut BA Masons myself. Outstanding!
Peace,
Cliffhanger
P.S. Out of curiousity, is the number in your username your year of birth?

AHHHHH!!
I just can't get a break, throw me a bone here dang it. Just called BA Mason to see if there was anyway for me to track my item as it ships. I gave them my order number and.......that particular boot is on BACK ORDER till APRIL 16!! The only good thing, if you want to call it that, is that April 16 is not too far off, but still. Son of a....

JCrew does the same thing, they tell you the boots will be out of stock
until a month from now, but I got mine in less than a week.
So keep thinking good thoughts and you may get a pleasant
surprise in a few days instead of weeks from this company too.

Indy

Try this:
Dear Sirs/Madams,
I am placing this order on behalf of a group of weirdos who may or may not flood your website with orders if I like what I see. You have no idea of the kind of notoriety that you will receive if your product matches my/our specifications. Please consider the level of business that the fine folks at Alden, Ll Bean, Soldier City, et al are now experiencing due to their choice of product.
Good day.

Interesting JF, might have to try that. I did however, get a email stating that the item is scheduled to ship April 12. Hey, that's a few days closer than the 16th right?

Sorry I haven't posted on the situation in a while, still waiting for them. Backorder *****! I am, however, getting a discount for having had to wait so long, $25 off isn't too shabby.
I believe the last expected date they gave me was June 7th....that's a buncha @#$%. Should I just cancel the order and save for the real deal or wait it out? I'm open for opinions here, and so far B.A. Mason(besides the discount)hasn't bent over backwards to get these back in stock and out to the customers.
...but I'm not bitter....

For $75.00 and a few bucks shiping i would go ahead and get them, They look like nice boots, and you have already waited this long.
Good luck.

I'd actually vote to save up for the Alden's ... In my opinion there is simply no comparison, and saving the money will make you $75 closer to getting them. if you really don't think getting Alden's is feasable, as in you odn't see yourself getting them in the near future, then you can go with the "close enough," but if you're willing to save, I say save and go with the best. I thought it was all hype, but they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I don't even wear sneakers or hiking boots anymore (my past comfort footware of choice). Aldens all the way.

Hmmm....That helps, but doesn't make the choice any easier. I would like to save up for the real deal Aldens, but I don't think they're in my near future as far as purchases.
Your right Sharpe, they wouldn't be bad for the price so it's probably best to stick with them, I have waited FOREVER for these darn things. I keep looking at the pic of them and saying "the mock toe area does look a little too tall," but I remember my co-worker who wore them and they didn't look like that at all. His pair, of course, had been broken in very well. So maybe that area of the boot would settle down with wear.

What was wrong with your JCREW boots?

They apparently discontinued them. I had tried to order them and that's the response I got.

That's it, I'm gonna save up for a pair of Aldens. These Mason's are just taking to darn long, and after having tried on Schwammy's pair of Aldens I get it...These things really are comfortable!....yes very Comfortable. His were nicely broken in so I see that getting past the new stiffness is worth the wait. I'm cancelling the BA Mason order today!

Good choice!!!
I had a lot of apprehension blowing that kind of loot on a pair of shoes, especially shoes that I was basically buying because Indy wore them. It took me all of 10 minutes to realise that these were the best fitting and most comfortable shoes I have ever owned in my life. I'm almost worried that Alden will stop making them, and eveyr once in awhile I get the urge to buy 5 or so pairs to last me through my walkin' days.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Michaelson bought an extra pair years ago for when his current pair gives out. Ahhh, to be so wise.

Yes, please let me know. I spent hours reading about close enough boots and the price is right on these.
Tell us more :!:
I checked with my pethorotist at Comfort Shoe. They can fit and order Aldens ,but do not carry the 405 in stock. The funds, why does it always have to be the funds!
Looking forward to your answer.

I'm glad to her that "M" bought that extra pair of shoes. When I like something very much, I'll buy it in many colors or sometimes the same to have an extra.

I always say, 'Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill!'
My second pair went to another fan here....so yes I WAS prepared...but no, I didn't stay that way...try and figure THAT one out!

The only problem with buying a "lifetime supply" of any shoe is that your feet change as you get older. I could see, however, always having an extra pair around. I'm lucky enough to have two pair of Aldens, the brown Indy boot, and a pair of black cap toe boots. Aldens rock!

So to catch up the story that seems so long ago. I ended up buying the Aldens waiting less than half the time it was taking on the BA. Mason's and loving them oh so much more. I don't think it took that long maybe a month, can't remember, but it was the last one in my size so I of course bought em...it was only right.
Guess it's been a year and a couple months now from first getting them and the laces are needing to be replaced, the boot has been naturally scuffed up and I couldn't love em more.

Sorry it took sooo long for me to get back to this post. A lot as happened in the course of that time.

Bad as they may be about shipping, I might have to order me a pair of those. I don't feel justified in buying a pair of shoes like the Aldens right now, price and all, so those look pretty good. I like the color of these better than the Aldens anyhow.

I seem to remember that someone posted some other pictures of the BA Masons in a thread I started a long while back, and they didn't look as good as they did in the picture on the website.
I can't seem to find it though.

Great link!
Now the question that starts the debate.
How true to size do they run? I noticed that they did not carry a size 10. So, this is important
Thanks,

I wrote B.A, Mason because I did not see a size 10. I received an email today with the usual regrets, "...we do not carry your size".
I've had that problem with a narrow foot, but never with a plain size 10
It is probably a lucky event, this way I'll be forced to eventually get the proper shoes my old "doggies" need
