Timing is everything.

Just as I pulled in front of the house when coming home for lunch today, the delivery van was pulling away. I run inside to find that my Wested had finally arrived!!! WOOHOO!!!!

My wife asked why I didn't just grab a pair of scissors to open the outer layer of packaging, but that would've required more time than just tearing it apart with my own two hands.

The jacket is everything I hoped it would be. And despite my occasional worries, the fit is superb, as if he was there to fit me for it in person. The craftsmanship is top notch and the authentic goatskin is simply fantastic. My wife laughed a little when I wouldn't take the jacket off while eating lunch. "What if you spill something on it?" "Don't worry, dear, I think the jacket can take it." She then humourously suggested that I could drag myself behind a truck on the way back to work.

I fought the urge to take it out of the apartment right away and instead gave it the customary go over with the Pecard jell I had purchased a couple of weeks ago. Rest assured that it's coming with me tomorrow!

I called Peter at Wested when I got back to work to personally thank him and tell him how happy I am with the jacket. He's kind, helpful, and darn good at what he does, no doubt about it.

To anyone who's never gotten a Wested and is thinking about it, and to those trying to patiently wait for theirs to arrive, it is well worth it!!!!

Bing? Well, I AM a baratone.

The wifey likes the jacket. She thinks it looks quite nice, as a matter of fact. For those interested, I'll try to get a pic taken in the next couple of days, although I'll need someone to post it for me.

I'm thinking of getting my second Wested and the Authentic Goat is what I'm going to go for. Quick question, hows the color.

The Wested site doesn't do it any justice. In my opinion, the authentic goatskin is a dark, almost chocolate kind of brown. I like the colour very much. But everyone's opinion of what the colour looks like is a little different, so take my opinion for what it's worth. bink

I love my Goat ToD ! I wear it with my suits and I carry my jacket around to the office and it looks great. Straight out of 1936 !

Since you seem to be the newest owners of Wested Goat jackets, how well do you think this jacket would stand up to punishment? How tough do you think they are?

It's an age old question, that's oft been asked, but as I'm going to get another Wested, and would like the toughest that's available, I would like as many opinions as possible.

In September or October I order a Raiders Jacket, also I want that it's
resistant. I am undecided between the autentic goatskin or horsehide.
I requeted Peter that I send a few samples of leather.
If someone possesses some Indy jacket in horsehide, I am gratefuk for his comments.

I got my goat (so to speak) because all my research led me to know that goatskin is one of the densest animal fibers out there, and therefore, would make a tough jacket capable of lasting a lifetime. I even told Peter I wanted a jacket which would last ages and he said the goatskin (like anything that's properly cared for) should do just that. Besides, they haven't offered a jacket out of Michaelson hide yet, possibly the toughest of all animal fibers out there.

I have no doubt that this jacket will take whatever I put it through. But bear in mind that I DON'T plan on dragging behind a truck with this thing. I understand they went through five jackets filming that scene. But if you plan on putting it through "practical" abuse, I see no reason why it won't handle it.

In fact, I'm wearing the jacket in my office as I type this. Today's my first day out with it (it came in yesterday!) and everyone in the office loves the jacket and thinks it looks great on me. I even wore a good 1940s necktie and one of my vintage lids to go with the ensemble. When I told them what I paid for it, especially after they've felt the jacket, they're astonished that I didn't have to pay three times that for this jacket.

If you are thinking of going for a goatskin, you can't go wrong with it. Just feeling the jacket and seeing how well this jacket is made, I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I could!

In his jacket, it put the fold of action with elastic tapes.
I have curiosity of as they stay and of if they are comfortable.

If you are reffering to the elastic in the action pleats, I honestly can't tell that they are there. I can't see them and I can't feel them. And the pleats fall nicely and look good, although I've only worn the jacket for a matter of hours. The jacket is very comfortable, especially since it's custom tailored!

I just recieved mine as well, in the dark brown goatskin, and I too feel comfortable knowing that the leather I am wearing is durable and will last for years to come. As for the elastics, I also had them placed into my goat. You cannot see them at all whatsoever, and you really can't feel them either. However, if I "purposely" run my fingers along the interior of the jacket lining, you can feel them "slightly." I am happy with them 100% and with the whole jacket!!
