Well, after, getting stuck with a $80 customs bill, having to send it back for alterations, then waiting almost 2 weeks for it to clear customs , I have my Wested.
Its a TOD dark brown goat. I think I'll really enjoy it. Too bad the weather is getting too warm here. The only things I would change are that the neck is a little too small, and the sleeves are too long. But I don't think I'll be trying to snap the neck closed much, and I can get the sleeves shortened at a tailor here.

Enjoy, and let us know how it wears. Best to wait a few days before giving a review, so you can let the initial excitememnt wear off.

Wear it a bit first before you get the sleeves shortened. You'll be amazed how much will ride up into the elbows with wear, though it does appear about an inch to long on my screen, you really won't know until the leather decides where it wants to go on your arm, and that can't be determined until you wear it for a while. You're right, though, it's getting a bit warm for our jackets down here now. Glad you put up a picture. I'll know who you are if I see you wandering around Memorial Parkway. (grins) Regards. I agree wholly with Michaelson about the sleeve length. I thought my Wested Authentic lamb was too long, until after the first month I wore it. Once wrinkles formed on the sleeves it seemed to take some of that length away. Now it fits perfect, reminding me of the old cliched glove-analogy: it seems to shrink to fit you and expand to fit you -within reason!

Mine had the same sleeve lengh. I would not shorten them. Better a bit long than tooooo short .
Mine is away nearly a month and i heard nothing that it is on the way back

Great looking jacket. Don't touch the sleeves, they'll be perfect in a
couple weeks. Once you try to drive you'll understand. Mine rides
up too far when driving. I'd soak it in Pecards jell and give 'er a ride
in the dryer on no heat for a few hours. I did this on two separate
occasions a month or two apart and it made my jacket softer and drape
better. Other than that the goat is as tough as armour so wear it
everywhere.

It looks great on you! I especially like the squared-off look of the shoulders. Also, the collar doesn't LOOK too tight, but that's your call.

Everyone's right about the sleeves. Leave 'em alone for now.

I wasn't planning on doing anything with the sleeves until it was broken in. Is altering the sleeves something a local tailor could do easily?

I think the neck looks fine, but its a struggle to get it snapped. I had asked to have it increased when I sent it back, but it didn't get done. I guess it would have meant remaking the whole jacket.

I wore it to work today. When driving, it feels kind of restrictive. I can't tell if needs to be a little bigger, or if I'm just not used to the stiffness of the new leather. I'm thinking it should loosen up (maybe stretch a little)as it breaks in. I'm used to a looser cut jacket, so I'll wear it some more before I pass judgement

Michaelson - Do you make it to Huntsville often (if any)? I don't usuall cruise the Mem. Pkwy., but if I see your moustache, I'll try to flag you down.

Well, speaking about tough leathers, I recently bought a Vanson Xmen biker jacket and that jacket is armor. It is supposed to be made of cowhide but it is the toughest jacket I have ever seen. I too have been trying the pecards gel and the dryer routine, and it is starting to kick in but I am still a while a way from getting to desired drape.

After wearing it to work for a couple of days, I'm feeling better about it. I thought it migh restrict my arms too much when I try to raise them in front (like driving), but its starting to loosen up some.
I may only have another day or two here to wear it before it gets too warm. I don't believe I'm saying this - but I'm looking forward to winter. And I have plans for another one, mabye in a year - a black cow.
