Hey Guys,
I want to buy a pair of Wells Lamont leather gloves #1130. I have tried e mailing wells lamont several times but thay are not replying. Does anybody know if I can pick some up through a separate internet dealer, or if they have a dealer in New Zealand?
Kind regards,
Jim.

I had a similar problem living here in the UK. There didn't seem anyway to get the gloves over the internet or from the company. But as always someone here came to my rescue and Chamorro very kindly offered to go to his local Wal-mart and get me the gloves and then he shipped them to me (thanks again buddy!). They are great gloves too - very durable.

Hey Ken,
it turns out that Illinois Troy has very kindly offered to find me some gloves and then ship them to me.
I was wondering which model of gloves you bought...was it the #1130 model which is a yellowish colour? because the Indygear site says that the #1123 model is the most accurate BUT it has been discontinued by Wells Lamont. They say that the #1130 is the next most accurate model, so that's what I'm going for.
Kind regards,
Jim.

Well I believe its the #1123 I never really noticed - they looked pretty screen accuarate nayhow. Just make sure you get the right size. As for the colour they started of the yellowish/tan colour and after wearing them in Peru they have weathered nicely and become a bit darker (like in Well of the Souls scene).
Illinois Troy - very good of you to help a fellow gear head in trouble as I know exactly what its like to be in this situation!!

Ken,
you might have got lucky and got yourself a pair of the last #1123's. If it is true that they have been discontinued (and I believe they have because typing the #1123 into the model search at the Wells Lamont website came up with nothing) then you've got yourself a nice pair of gloves!
Kind regards,
Jim.

They have em' in droves here in Illinois. They are all hand made so even gloves in the same size are sometimes different.

Knowing UK shops as I do, I need to know, do they sell a range of Wells Lamont gloves or just one type.
Or more to the point do they sell the Indy models - 1123 or 1130?
Agent5 - is there a shop in particular that sells them via the web? If so could you post the address - thanks.

IndyJim. I emailed you again and sent you a PM as well so now there shouldn't be a problem
.
Indypip, The model Wells Lamont sells is the 1130. The colors are the yellow/tan and the tan. Both the same model...different shades.
I'll post pics of mine for you.

Here are those pics:
In the top picture the lighting wasn't quite right so the lining on the wrist looks yellow. It is not, it is another shade of tan/yellow.
Both colors can be identified in ROTLA. As to getting them online, I have no idea, anyone?

Sounds like you ran into some old stock. Do they look the same?

I'm ninety percent sure that they are the right ones - they are so close to all the pictures online that they would definitely make a good substitute.
B&Q sells many different kinds of Well Lamont gloves (although sometimes they are scattered through out the store on other shelves).
Don't go in there that often, but every time I have done over the last couple of years - they've more often than not had them.
They need some serious weathering though to give them that movie appearance.

I called Wells Lamont to order a pair yesterday and the sales lady was kind enough to direct me to my local Wal-Mart. She said the 1123's were discontinued and the replacement 1130's should be found there.
I went and found 8 or nine pairs in the Lawn and Garden section for $10 each.

Actually, the 1130 is more Raiders-accurate to my eyes than any other, because of the light color cowhide which darkens with use, double wrist elastic stitching, wrist vent and the straight thumb. Costuming would have darkened, soiled and aged them artificially. In addition, I don't know of any differences between the 1123 and the 1130 other than the "Grips" finger pre-curving. And in 1980 they probably would not have had "pre-curved" shaping like the WL "Grips" line. The gloves form to your fingers after a couple of wearings anyway.
Depending on your area, a certain model of glove can be very hard to find. I looked extensively on the internet and finally found a great source for the 1130 and many other Wells Lamont styles, and they even carry a broad range of sizes. I was looking for size small and they were the only source for that size.
