If you could switch out the grips on the HFC it looks like they'd be identical!

Great comparison shots, man! And lovely collection you have!
I have the HFC and the standard Webley as well, both are pretty great.
Used to have the long barrel Tanaka, but I sold it.

The HFC has long been a great close enough. As you show with the side by sides (thanks ), both guns have very similar profiles. The HFC is based on the K frame (.38 caliber) vs the N frame (.45 caliber) the Tanaka is based on.
This is a good article explaining the difference in frame sizes.

I must say that the quality of the Tanaka is far supreme to the HFC. Also the handle on the HFC is quite “wobbely” and “squeaky” .
When you pick up de Tanaka it just feels sturdier and all is on point.

Well, of course, the price point is also a big difference.
The HFC is on the lower end of finishing definitely. Somehow it was better quality than I expected for the price, though.
The Tanaka also features quite nice markings, makes it look really authentic.

Indeed. And as shown the HFC got the looks .
I’m going test the weathering on the HFC. This should make it even better!

I think you can use some hot-glue to make the grips and grip weights more robust.
