My own take on the Akubra Federation Deluxe

I got a new hat for my birthday! I had previously owned an Akubra Federation Deluxe in Moonstone, but I actually ordered too small of a size, and didn’t wear it super often, so I sold it. It left me wanting another AFD, so I got one in Heritage Fawn (and in the right size).

I shaped my first AFD like the train scene in KotCS, but I wanted to do my own thing with this one. I was going for a LC swoop on the brim, tight Raiders pinch, and a teardrop (center dents leave me with terrible hat hair). Admittedly, the straight on and profile shots look kinda funny, and make the crown look really big (partly due to the teardrop), but from every other angle, I’m really happy with the way it turned out.

Don’t mind my daughter who felt compelled to make funny faces in the background.

EXCELLENT job!!

Though I’m not a personal fan of the teardrop myself (water pools on top of the crown in a heavy rain), that’s just me!

You’ve definitely nailed the look from an open top crown!
