has it come to light the size of the whip Indy uses in the film? ive heard some say 8 others say 10 ft, which one is correct and has it been confirmed?

Hmmm... Weren't other lengths used as well? I had heard of 6 ft and of 12 ft for a swinging scene... Or was that only in ToD?

Whips in lengths ranging from 6 to 16ft were supplied if I remember correctly. Question was about 8 and 10 footers.

6-16 is accurate, but 8-10 are the two most common lengths. 10 is generally preferred though.

The 10 footer looks great on the belt. For playing around I like a 6-7 footer, though. Maximum 8. But this is purely based on personal tastes.

I know this is an older thread, but years ago I pored over Raiders whip screencaps versus actual whips and I could never confirm a 10-footer in any of the closeups. IMO the comparisons pointed overwhelmingly to 8-footers on the belt or in the hand in all Raiders scenes. Unfortunately the most compelling Photobucket pic from the below thread is no longer active. Anyway, food for thought.

Hmmm, I don't know what to say. I. The pics it looks similar to my 10 footer in number of coils. Maybe 9-10 inches shorter...

Might it be a 9 footer? I guess, aside from coils the diameter, thong thickness also comes into play, slightly skewing the perception. So an 8 footer is not out of the question.
