Tonak worth a look?

Post by Kilgour Trout »

Hey Folks: :D In a recent trip to Toronto I met a millner (Woman's hatter) who was not only very interested in our forum but she offered to access Men's hat's and felt samples from Tonak. From what I've read, the felt quality seems good and the basic Burlington offering worth having. Is it worth the effort to enquire? I posted this over at the Fedora Lounge as well...if there is enough interest I'll get in contact.

Warm Regards
Kilgour Trout

Ps. Does anyone have the Burlington styling and colour numbers (That is if there were any?)

I would say that if the price were similar to what people are paying for the Burlington Tonak hats...then it is definately worth looking into. Speaking of Burlington, does anyone see hats there anymore?

Last time I was at Burlington they had some black Huckel felt hats with low crown and wide brims.

I had no idea You were talking about the Burlington hats on the Fedora Lounge, Tonak threw me.

I have not worn their felt in the rain, though it feels pretty nice to me. Very soft and you can roll it up with no ill affects that I have seen.

I will post a pic this weekend. the one i bought has a lining and a leather sweatband.

Fedora noted that beaver and nutria sometimes appear to have a frost on them, which is what I noticed about Tonak. Unlike my Borsalino, the Tonak reacts like I have noticed the Raiders felt does - the sharp areas at the top rear of the front bashes produce raised bumps right on the edge of the bash. Tonak's web site hat a page where you can see and buy hat bodies.
