Hey guys, I was just curious what you all would recommend to stuff a headband with to make it fit a slightly smaller size?

A folded up paper towel works fine for me.

Paper towel for me too. You can adjust the thickness very easily and it's readily removable/replaceable as necessary.

Does stuffing the sweatband add a nice mushroom effect to the hat a-la Raiders? I’m asking this all because I might get a 23” ABL Raider, but I’m a size 22 7/8.

It made the "turn" more defined in the brim on my Hufvud Leifur in pure beaver. I don't notice a difference in the crown, however, you may get different results depending on the felt, materials, etc.

I'm a fan of the Cap Ban Nu inserts. JJ Hat Center sent me some with a hat once and it's the most comfortable thing I've tried to snug up a hat. They are a bit more expensive than just buying some weather stripping foam though. They're jersey cotton. The manufacturer wants you to stick them to the sweatband but I slip them behind the sweat and it's fine (though your sweat might pucker a bit if you do this.

Available on a popular e-commerce site owned by a space cowboy. Looks like Village Hat Shop has them in stock too.

Something I've always wondered... for those of you that use padding in your hats, do you typically notice that the hats shrink to fit over time? I mean, assuming you don't go swimming in it or brave a monsoon or something extreme...

Just curious I guess if whether stuffing the hat actually prevents the hat from conforming to your head over time, I suppose.

I’ve used draft excluder, the ‘squidgy’ kind that comes in a roll.

Castor, I would say it slows the conforming process, but it won't stop it. In some cases, I eventually don't need the stuffing.
