Raiders bullwhip screenshots?

Post by IndyFanChuck »

Hey friends! May I kindly ask, does anyone have any high res screenshots of the “Throw Me The Idol, I Throw You The Whip” scene? I’d like to take a close look at the whip in that scene if possible. All I found on goggle was low res.

I’m trying to match what I see on screen to my costume. I don’t care what the whip looked like in real life, I just want to try and match my whip to what I see on screen. If that makes any sense…. :whip:

Anyone have any really good HD screen grabs of the whip from Raiders?

Thank you for your time!

I’m not able to post pictures at the moment, but the truck chase has some nice closeups of the whip when he hooks it under the truck.

Hi guys,

if you want the highest possible resolution photos of Indy whips (screengrabs, collections photos, others), I'm sharing my own archive:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Let me know if you can see the photos.

You will find the Peru temple scene's pics as well :whip:

Swinging whip was probably a steel wire covered in some leather plaiting. You can find some photos in the archive.

As for the CS whip - there are some photos, not many, just because it isn't my favourite whip and the whips supplied by Terry Jacka were the same, I mean there weren't any differences between them. Propguys just dyed the knots and Anthony De Longis broke them in so they looked more weathered.
I will add more photos of the CS whips in the future too. I just prefer original trilogy whips more, so I started from them :CR:

Thanks guys! Great photos. I’ve always felt that the whip they used for the truck scene was probably a steel cable with a whip made over it? Most likely?

I have Vic Armstrong’s book, so I need to read that section again to see what he says about performing that stunt! I have forgotten!

Have we ever going out the details? Has anyone asked Vic Armstrong? Whoops. I think I meant Terry Leonard. Terry performed the truck stunt! DOH!

I’ve been a member a long time! But I can’t recall ever reading on this forum how many whips were used in the first movie?

Is that a movie fact we all know the answers to?

There were a few whips for Raiders that, mainly, were supplied by the stunt coordinator Glenn Randall. He trained Harrison Ford how to use the whips and supplied them from his own collection of Dan Morgan whips. I don't believe/not sure all whips came from Mr. Randall, I would imagine for stunt sequences and whips that would be damaged or destroyed during production were either put together by the stunt team for that specific shot or were ordered by production from Morgan Whips. My two cents, hope it helps :TOH:
