Temple of Doom and the striated lamb collar

I'm watching Temple of Doom for the 100th time and I noticed that the collar on Indy's jacket during the plane scene looks to be striated.

Then during the village scene, I noticed that the collar looks completely different...

It looks like the striated collar is back at the campfire scene...

I know this is probably been posted before but I thought it was an interesting observation about the Temple of Doom jacket.

Well if it’s anything like Raiders, they probably used more than one jacket.
But I like the pic’s as I’ve been playing around with my S&J ToD.

Thanks for your reply, Croft.

I know that they used more than one jacket. I mainly posted because I only just noticed the striated collar.. :o

Love the distressing on the temple jacket - when Indy returns to the village with the stones the jacket looks awesome !

Hi Croft! I’ve been considering going to S&J for a distressed TOD jacket. Do you have any pics you could share? If you don’t wish to derail the thread, I’d love a PM. But if you think your striations and distressing are relevant to this discussion, I always appreciate your pics.

I agree. The sleeve bunching in that scene is absolutely phenomenal, and you get some spectacular looks at the distressing in the bright sunlight.

I know that you know they used a couple jackets, ya know.

And I've tried several time to get my S&J sleeves to wrinkle like that and it
just won't stay wrinkly, ya know.
I think it's leather they used, very drappy
But my S&J ToD has gone through some work, trying to get that
look, really distressed.
So the undertone were nice as you can see in the pic's, but I distressed it, didn't like it, used
Pecard dark brown dressing, this took care of the work i did. These are pictures posted.
I have since then used the brown leather dye that another member used on his
Wested grey undertones to achieve that russet undertone (which I did to my
Wested and  what a difference., but when I did this to my ToD, it reminded
me to much of my Truck Chase jacket, so I used a light coating of regular Pecard's and
it's darken up. I will take some pictures soon.

Sorry to derail, but hey I like to to babble sometimes.

Sorry, but since this is already derailed...

I've been waiting to get this shirt:

Also I agree that his jacket looks great in ToD, especially at the end village scene. And so does his hat, where he captures Willie for a kiss. It's my favorite in ToD

Croft, I just knew you’d come through with pics that would be delightful! I love your bow as “you can see the magic of the rock you bring back”... :TOH:

So that is a S&J ToD? It sure looks the part! I may have to contact Diego and see how much of a challenge he would like to take on replicating that particular scene specific jacket.

Can we all agree it’s one of the best endings to any movie ever?

I third that.
The Temple jacket is the only other Indy jacket that ever I had an allure to.
The smaller pockets and the wrinkly sleeves, which if he can pull that off and he uses the same leather as mine, I want to know how he doesn’t it.

I no we’ve kind went off the bridge, but hey, it’s all Indy in the end.

And Hedji, your welcome, pending weather, going to take some this weekend of what it looks like now.
I was hesitant to wear it, nothing wrong, but my truck chase is my holy grail of jackets.
S&J are in my eyes are the go to people for Indy jackets

Just a quick shout out of appreciation for your use of “off the bridge”. That’s all. Hope everyone is hangin in there!

I always assumed wrinkly sleeves were the product of a wet jacket and Harrison’s work in the gym to bulk up for TOD. My arms don’t fill sleeves like that so I never thought it was a look I’d ever capture.

This thread is heating up! :o

Getting back to the striated collar, how many here didn't realize it was striated until you saw this thread? :-k

Me, I never saw it.
When I do get the anniversary set, I’ll be looking for it.

I tried to get the wrinkly sleeves again this weekend, getting them wet, hitting with hairdryer, getting them wet, etc, etc.
But nope, while a little wrinkly, not nearly the same.
I think it’s the type of leather.

It has been stated in the past Ford wasn’t a big fan of the Cooper jackets due to the weight as well as being too large due to Ford losing weight between fitting and jacket delivery, and occasionally Ford borrowed his stunt mans Wested Raiders jacket for scenes when available. The striated lamb could be the Wested. The village jacket was definitely a Cooper.

I refer you to read the TofD jacket write up on the main page. It’s there.

So yes, it’s been discussed before, though it’s been a while. Nice to see the photographic proof. :TOH:

Regards! Michaelson
