I found 'em!!!! \:D/

So, this was the my last remaining Fed III, one day out of the box, with a shallow preliminary bash. Sometime in 2007.
Image

After a few days, I settled on this not-quite Indy bash. It thought it was a nice place to start, and let nature do the rest.
Image

The hat's mid-life crisis, circa 2012. The crown had tapered enough that I didn't care for the center dent, and already had plenty of c-crowns. So, I went a very different route.
Image

And here she is, all grown up in 2021. I got tired of the previous bash a few year back.
Still looks great, felt is excellent. Unfortunately, the sweatband finally shrank enough to make it a uncomfortable to wear. :( I want to refurb, and get her as close as possible to the original Fed III shape, but I have yet to find anyone who can do it without costing me more than a brand new hat. So, for now, she is in retirement.

If you go by the die hard Akubra wearers on the Facebook group they just split the leather band at the back and keep using it. Not sure if I would do that but it’s an option. Probably easier than the old hat Jack stretcher.
