I received my first Wested a couple of weeks ago, and it seemed a little roomy and definitely too long. It's an awesome jacket, it just doesn't fit me well. I figured I'd go ahead and live with it since I'd already worn it some, but it's really starting to bug me that it's not right. Not anything against Wested, as I could have done a better job of being more clear when I placed my order. Question is, now what do I do now that I've worn it some and didn't just send it back the first day when I saw it wasn't correct? Should I put it on Ebay and try to recoup my money that way? What's the standard procedure in these instances?

Call or email Wested...I'm sure they'll still adjust the jacket to your liking free of charge (except postage). That's what they claim and that's what I've heard of others doing, even after having their jackets for quite some time. It's worth a shot.

For all that is good and holy don't SELL IT! Contact Wested ASAP and tell them exactly whats wrong with your jacket. They will help you sort it out and will most likely not even charge you for anything other than shipping cost!

You didn't say how long you had it, but from Wested's FAQ it states: We do not give a written guarantee but as we live by our reputation we will repair alter or replace at our cost any fault or accident providing it is reasonable.

Assuming you have had it a reasonable time and have not worn it to tatters, and it is just in need of alterations, I would give Peter a call, or email him stating the problem. I would certainly give that a try first. You would definitely not be the first one to have to have alterations done to a jacket that was ordered.

Hey Panama Tom Jr. I had a similar problem with length of sleeves on my Wested, every time I lifted my arm it rode way up, kinda made me look like I was put on some medevial tortue something or other. But any way I cotacted Wested and I went as far as calling them. They told me to send it back and they'd fix it and they did, no charge. But be sure to write on box "for repair" (or something like it) if you contact them they'll tell you what to write on it. This way they aren't charged duty tax or something. But don't sell it just bite the whip and send it back, it'll be a long wait but in the end it's worth it

My initial email resonse from Wested was that as they would have to completely remake the jacket, I'd have to send back the original jacket unworn so that they could resell it. That's why I have the question - since I have worn it out a few times, I can't really send it back "unworn..."

Email them back and tell them exactly what is wrong with it and how you thought at first it wasn't going to be a problem but that in the past few weeks it has really become a major issue for you. Unless you've really worn in the jacket I don't think it would be a problem. It doesn't hurt for you to ask them again.

I spoke with Wested this morning and it looks like no dice - the alterations I need done would require an entire remake and since I've worn the original jacket, they can't take it back. So I'm back to my original question - what's the best way to sell the old jacket and get the most for it I can - I've only had it 2 weeks after all, and worn it only a few times. Is ebay my best bet?

I'd try putting it in the classified ads here first.
No Ebay fees, and you know it'll find a good
home.

Did you tell Wested this? Or did you just say that the jacket is now
worn?

If its only 2 weeks old, there should be no noticable wear or wrinkles
in it yet.

If you didn't tell them this, call again and tell them. Tell them when
you ordered it, and when you received it. Sometimes, the person you
talk to on the phone does not have all your details of your order handy
while they are speaking with you.

I would try Wested again. If you put it on E-bay, or offer it to someone
here, you are going to loose at LEAST a hundred bucks.

It does not matter that we are all gearheads or not. Most people will not
pay full price for a used jacket here when they can get a new one, made to
their exact specs from Wested for the same price, or only slightly more.

You can look thru the classified adds right here, and see that there are
alot of people in your shoes that tried to sell their jackets for what they
paid for them, only to be dissapointed in the end because no one here
would pay that much for a used jacket that might not fit them.

And e-bay will be even worse. You will be lucky to get $200.00 for it
on there.

Again, call and talk to either Peter or Gerry, and tell them that the jacket
is not "worn", as you have only had it two weeks, and you would like a
new one.

However, if the jacket does not fit because you tried to "guess" your
size, then you may be out of luck because you sent in the wrong
measurements.

What are the specs of the jacket?

It's an authentic lamb Raiders 44long - 26"sleeves, back length is 27" from bottom of collar to bottom of jacket, grail size inside pocket, slightly tapered cuffs.

The basic question I was asked was "does it look like it could pass as never been worn?" The fact is that there are some very light creases starting to show on the sleeves and the the body, and when I said so, he pretty much said "There's your answer." I can't blame them, as they would have a hard time selling a jacket that does not look fresh off the shelf.
I guess I'll try and list it in the classifieds and see what happens...
