Greetings all!

I have a Raiders whip made by the awesome Lelec himself! I love it, but want to protect it a bit more (plus I life the shiny whip look). Paul Nolan made a video about kangeroo whips and he mentioned applying shellac to it as a final touch, I have a few questions.

1. Wouldn't shellac crack (no pun intended) over time?
2. What kind of shellac is best for whips? I don't want to pick the wrong one that might end up ruining the whip due to some unforeseen chemical reaction.

Shellac won't crack, but it might wear off in time. You'd just need to apply another layer. It is quite flexible, otherwise the whip wouldn't work so well.

I used saddle lac instead of shellac, which worked fine, but it seems to be too air-tight so that's not as great for the whip, as you're not able to apply Pecard's to it.

About the type, I can't say much. I know you can buy flakes and make it yourself.

Maybe someone else will weigh in...there are a few whip-makers around here.
