Alden Restoration Service

Hey, all. So inquired with Alden to have my boots serviced, and they sent me their mailer to ship 'em out to New England for repair. Costs $179. I just sent them out today. Was sad to see them go. Anyone done this before?

They are a pair of 403s I've had and worn for 7 years now. I have to say, Alden boots are my most loved bit of Indy gear as I wear them all the time. The restoration process will replace the sole, heel stack, rubber foot balance heel, laces and restore the leather. Sounds like they will look like new when I get them back in about 10 weeks. I'll post pics when they return home.

My Aldens have spoiled me so much that I just can't buy cheap shoes anymore. Everything for sale at places like Macy's is total crud. $500 for shoes is a lot, but considering I've gotten 7 years out of them, pretty amazing.

I have not had a pair of boots restricted by Alden, but I’ve had a couple of pairs of Shell Cordovan shoes done and they came out perfectly. Solar like new.

I understand with Indy Boots, unlike other footwear, they don’t restore the uppers unless you ask.

I sure hope they come back better than mine. At first I was in awe, then both of my heels can easily be pulled apart from the uppers. I just wear them regardless though

Eek. That doesn't sound good. I'll keep you posted.

My original pair of 405’s are now 19 years old and still kickin! I’ve had them restored by Alden in the past with great success.

I actually need to have my 403’s restored very soon as well.

I know this is pretty old, but how did it turn out? :-k

Hopefully better than my experience with them...

Really well! So glad I did it. I can post pictures sometime in the near future. They didn't do much to the uppers, but they replaced the sole, the heal stack, new welt stitching, and interior footbed. They also threw in shoe trees, a new box, and a bag (if I recall properly). Well worth it! I had my shoes for 7 plus years before having this done, so I would expect another 7 years out of them now!

Ahoy! Haven't posted in awhile, but just chiming in that I had mine done recently as well. Could not be happier with the results!! Mine are the older, cotton-lined ones and are broken in just right. I asked them not to re-finish the uppers and they happily obliged.
The cedar shoe trees were a pleasant surprise as well!

I would love to see some pics of the finished product. I've had mine (cotton lined) for close to 20 years (yikes!) and I'm just now thinking about sending them in. I just don't want to be without them! Best boots I've ever owned.

Oh, I keep forgetting to do that. I've worn them a ton since, so... they probably won't look as good as when I first got them back. All I can say is, they came out really well. Brand new sole, heel stack, rubber Tru Balance heel, new insole lining, canvas bag, shoe stretchers, shoe box, laces. The only thing they didn't touch is the upper, which is fine, since I can treat that myself. I wouldn't hesitate.

How do I sign up for this?

Just click "Request a Restoration Kit." It doesn't commit you to anything, but they will send you a mailer bag to shove your shoes in along with a form to fill out. Mail them off, get charged a chunk of money and 6 weeks later get your shoes back, good as new.
