Hi,
I'm new here, I hope someone can answer the following questions...
I am thinking of ordering a Last Crusade Jacket in Authentic Goat. Since that type of leater isn't too warm, yet durable.
But some people seem not to be happy with the bigger collar of a LC style jacket. Looking at the movie the collar doesn't look ridiculous.
Is it a matter of 'shaping' the collar? Or is it really that big? Anyone owns both types?

Is the goat tough enough for functioning in de D rings?

Just substitute a Raiders collar when you order. That's what I do.

The collar is just a little too wide for my tastes.

The standard collar width for LC is 4 inches. Yes, it's quite a shocker when you see it. But if you want a screen accurate LC jacket, then I just don't see ordering a Raiders collar. What I have done with mine is curl the collar to minimize the effect of the width. In fact in a lot of scenes in LC the collar is curled. Sometimes it looks big and sometime due to lighting and curl, it looks normal. On ordering, it just depends on your taste. If you want it screen accurate there are tricks. If you just want the LC jacket with a longer hem line and larger pockets per spec, but you want a smaller collar, well then go for it. It's you that needs to be happy.

I'm with Sergei - I have the 4" collar - looks great to me as is but the CURL idea works. It's a great jacket - ....and do it in Goat - you won't be sorry.

I would substitue the Raiders collar. I simply told Peter that I want the collar to be no wider than three inches at the ends and it came out perfect! That's the joy of a custom-ordered Wested!

I agree with all, go with the Raiders collar. I have two LC jackets, and I no longer wear them partly because of the giant collars. I just havent sent them back for alterations yet!!

So I read that there is some difference in tast; sounds reasonable to me. Another question on my mind is:
When you ordered a LC jacket with the big collar, did you get what you expected? Or was it bigger than you estimated looking at the movie? I have the impression some people experienced it as a 'big' surprise..;-). I like the jacket that I see in the movie, if I get the same as I expect then I'll know what to do...

4 inches is the correct spec on the LC collar. And that is what Peter delivers. The spec on the Raiders is about 3 1/4". If you look at both the movies, the LC collar is noticable larger compared to Raiders. And yes, in person it will look bigger. Look at the difference of 3/4", it's bigger. BTW it's easy to take in. A tailor can adjust the length of the collar by modifying the length by unstiching the collar stand, doing the snip at the base of the collar. Whatever floats your boat...

It is a matter of personal taste, but all it took was one person making a crack about my '70's disco lapel, and I decided to send it back for replacement. I'm not usually one to make decisions based on the tastes of others, but I noticed the collar's size right out of the box, and that comment was the breaking point.

I have to admit that even when I received my Raiders jacket I was a slightly surprised at it's size - it was larger than I envisioned in my mind - of course it's correct and once I viewed the movies again and added some curl it was fine , so I can only imagine what a brand new LC collar would look like...
