MK VII Dye color

Not to long ago I got a vintage Canadian MK VII, which has the really cool snap pocket on the inside. However, when I got it, it was a little more well used than I was led to believe. It even had bright green paint on all the metal hardware(also not mentioned by seller). Anyway after extensive scrubing and handwashing and using acetone and sandpaper to remove the paint, and lighten up the paint stains on the canvase, I have a decent looking bag. I didn't like the mustard color of the bag though and decided to try and dye it olive green. After the first dye job it looks greener but no where near green enough.....so anyway has anyone got any idea what kind of dye to use and what color to use to get that deep military olive green color??

Thanks Again,
Reggie

I used, per the advice of others, the Dark Green RIT dye from Walmart, or practically any supermarket for that matter. From the sounds of it your bag is probably identical to mine - check this post to see the results of my dye job - pics are on the 10th reply down...

Thanks for the tip, I think that I will give it a try this weekend. I don't know if I should use a dye remover before re-dying the bag. Since it should end up darker, I think I may just try and re-dye it. Anyway, Thanks

I'm thinking of doing the same to my MK VI. does dye time matter? what should I do to prep the bag prior to dying? also, the pictures in the other post dont work..
