My newest project - Raiders gun-belt

I've been wanting to tackle this for a while now. Not only is it Indy gear, but it's nice to have a separate belt for my whip when I go hiking.

I made this belt in ten ounce cowhide. Beveled and burnished the edges with an edge slicker. And I used Fiebing's Oil Dye to ... dye it.

For anyone interested in making one:

- it is 38 mm wide
- compared to a pants belt it should be 75 mm (three inches) longer according to my research ( in order for it to stay slanted, not around your waist)

Unfortunately I could not find an accurate enough buckle, but I used Chicago screws for the assembly, so I can swap it in the future, when I find a better one.

Good for you, looks great! Thanks for showing the burnishing station. I would like to make stuff like that in the future (I'm in the process of moving now) so I'd be curious about what sort of tools I will need to get.

Well, for a belt it's pretty straighforward:

- belt cutter, or a sharp knife and a steady hand to cut the belt blank
- beveler to bevel the edges on both sides before burnishing
- edge slicker (the station is a huge help, but I made all my stuff without it until now)
- assortment of punches for all the holes, including the buckle tounge
- saddler's groover, for the decorative groove
- oil dye and sponge to apply it
- some Pecard's to make it nice and supple

That is about it, I hope I haven't forgotten anything. If you want to sew the belt, there are a couple of extra things.
