Indy Shirt - Best option these days

Hello Everyone,
I've been absent from the boards for a while and so much has changed in terms of clothing suppliers.
These days, who offers the best raiders shirt?
I already own a Berman's and Nathan's raiders shirt but because of how rare it is I don't like to wear it often so I'm looking for the next best thing.
I like the shirt that is used on the BK website to model the jacket but it doesn't look like they sell one. Anyone know where that one came from?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've got one from Wested Leather and I'm perfectly happy with it. You can take a look here:

Happy hunting!

Wested, What Price Glory, Azuma or Todd's if that ever comes back in stock.
Then there's the more expensive custom routes, Magnoli, etc.

Azuma are coming back soon. Here is the ToD interest thread. Truly are the best I've seen with tremendous attention to detail.

WPG gets my vote for the 'readily available off-the-rack' category. I can only compare it to Todd's since I've never owned Wested's.

Where do I get the Azuma from? Do you have a link to the website?

Azuma doesn't have a website (to my knowledge). He does his shirts in runs that he posts in the Crescent Moon Emporium section of the site. Here's the link to his current run of ToD shirts:

Coming out of hiding
to give this topic a bump. I've been missing my Indy shirts lately! The Todd's was the best Indy shirt I ever had (I liked the slightly more papery feel better than the softer dressy feel of the Magnoli way back when), but what's the best now? It looks like there are no Azuma shirts around...
I don't think the Wested shirts come small enough for me, and I'm not confident a Magnoli would fit me either. Is the WPG still the best one other than those two?
Shane
Hey, my smilies still work!

The Wested shirt in 2XL is too short for me. The WPG in a XL-L fits great. I do take them to the cleaners as severe wrinkles are not my thing...…...
Also really like the close enough Cabela’s Safari shirts.

Indeed, McFly, nice to see you poke your head in the door.
My understanding is the WPG shirts are cut somewhat generously so I don't know how well they will work in your frame. They have a detailed sizing guide on their website so you can check their measurements.
Magnoli shirts are made to measure so other than the cost, you know it'll fit because it was made for you.

Indiana Jeff

Ah, bummer! Sounds like I might be out of luck. If the WPG is cut like a sack, that’s no good. I wouldn’t mind a Wested being short because I’ll probably wear it untucked with jeans, but the chest size starts at 38-40 and I’m about a 36.
Indiana Jeff wrote:Magnoli shirts are made to measure so other than the cost, you know it'll fit because it was made for you.
This is a bummer too because in all of the things I’ve gotten from Magnoli, I’ve never been happy with the fit or I’ve had to ship them back to Nepal to get remade because of some mistake, so I’m too scared to buy anything from there anymore. (It’s already expensive before shipping stuff back to Asia)
Does Todd even make Indy stuff anymore? Are they still in business? Looks kind of quiet on his site.

Best advice is to wait around for the next Azuma run and buy a couple then. He’s still active, to my knowledge.

Todd is still in business. He currently has some beautiful DL-44 blasters they put a ton of work into producing.
He still stocks some Indy items, but got out of shirt and trousers because the overhead was so high to get them made in large enough quantities to have them be priced reasonably (for him and us) and then he sat on a ton of inventory for too long to make it worth while.

Indiana Jeff

Thanks for the tips, guys! I guess I’ll hang around and see if Azuma comes up again!

Hey McFly!
Definitely look into the Azuma’s shirts.
The fit is very similar to the NH.
Material is a bit heavier.
I finally got one last year and really like the overall fit and finish.
Maybe we should plan a new QM event and I’ll bring it along...

Nepal? I you thinking of Baron Boutique... or Marion Ravenwood, maybe?
Seriously though, sending you a PM to discuss this further!

Marion Ravenwood! That’s it! I think you’re right though, Baron is in Nepal so that’s what I must have been thinking of. “Kathmandu” just sticks in my brain!

Cabela’s stopped making their safari line when BassPro bought them. A real bummer, because I loved those shirts.

And, sadly, LL Bean appears to be phasing out their very nice poplin field shirt, which came in a great close-enough color, with epaulettes too, just missing the Indy vertical pleats in front.
Came through the wash/dry cycle with nary a wrinkle. Glad I bought a bunch of those over the past few years...

My Wested is well made but yellowish in colour and quite a wide baggy fit. Bought about 2 years ago.
My WPG fits much better but again colour seems off... more khaki green. Also the Wpg has some serious stitching issues like it was cut and sewn by a novice. Looks good on but very sloppy when you look inside at the cutting and stitching.
Hope to pick up an azuma one day. Magnoli just too pricey for a shirt.

Was wondering when this was going to happen. I'll be out of town end of April, so if for some reason payment is askied for during that time, you can send me a PayPal invoice any time.
Sweet.

Just glancing at the Wested shirt, it looks like it has too many buttons (I count eight buttons, and they appear to be spaced too close together), and the pockets look big to me. The Azuma shirt looks great. I got an affordable-ish Magnoli off-the-rack shirt just the other day, and am wearing it now. First Indy shirt I've had in ages. I like it! My only complaint is that it feels like the pockets and collar are fused? They're very stiff, like in a dress shirt. Seems to me a safari shirt should be more unstructured, but perhaps with repeated wear and washing everything will soften up. I do love the color, and the large variety of colors offered!
Edit - now that I look again, I guess the Wested shirt only has seven buttons. Maybe I'm imagining things.

Well schwammy I'm both sad and happy to hear about your "fused" collar and probably cuffs.
(
sad) I bought a IM custom cotton shirt and that's what they did to mine. And it went off to the bizarre pronto. IM did mention that they weren't supposed to be fused. Then bought another (oh did I mention at 125.00 each) They sent out the second un-fused but messed up on the cuffs, so I sent it back, they reimbursed me shipping, but there was no sense of urgency to get my repair done quickly and sent back, put to the bottom I was.
(
happy) because now I won't waste my time. And sad to for your experience.
On the bright side I believe Azuma may have another Raiders shirt in the works, so reach out to him and get on the list. Or at least let him no how interested you are.
Azuma's shirts are the only way to go, the weight is perfect for a Indy shirt, love every single one of my 8-9 shirts, I've lost count.

Our ready made shirts gets nice, soft and wrinkly after a wash or two. I've been wearing mine plenty and it's as soft as you'd want it.

And fused? or does that disappear after many, many washes?
Will have to have schwammy keep us up-dated.

I've washed mine a few times and collar and cuffs are definitely not stiff!

Ok, IM but were yours
fused is the question. And if they were did they soften up after washing.
The one you fixed for me on a custom order is also soft, but they weren't fused either.
I'd buy one, but if there was any fusing, I would not be happy.

Yes, but after a few washes it's as soft as there were none.

What.
Are you saying that if fused they get soft.
Yes or no.
Not trying to be difficult, but your not saying whether yours were fused, just that it gets soft.

I prefer the color of the Azuma shirts, for sure, but the fabric on magnoli’s shirts is a much better fabric.

Croft, at the end of the day... the collars and cuffs are soft. That's the point.

Not to me IM, if there stiff (fused) then they are not soft.
And never will be. Not going to take a chance.
So your saying the collar and other areas where the material is doubled up are fused.
Correct
And on a side note, Azuma’s are not. Soft the day you get em.

Yes, they do have a light fusing, but no, they are not stiff. I'm sure the original shirts were done the same way and softened with wash-and-wear. I'm wearing mine right now and there is no stiffness whatsoever.

How is the sizing of your ready made shirt? Is it more on the loose sized or a slimmer fit?
I'm about to place an order
Thanks!

Like Jeff said, sizing is on the site, but generally speaking, we tried to keep it a fairly slim silhouette to mimic the original.

Regarding the Magnoli shirt – I've thrown mine in the wash a handful of times, and it does get nice and soft, and yet not "fuzzy" like the older ones did back in the... early 2000's? (Yikes
) They have a really nice feel and they're not stiff at all. They DO shrink a little bit, so keep that in mind. Maybe they're best to hang dry if you do get one and throw it in the wash. I put mine in the dryer, so your mileage may vary. Otherwise, care is really easy.
Indy - would you say they should be hung to dry, or is it safer to expect a little bit of shrinkage regardless?

IMHO If I care about a shirt at all it doesn't touch the dryer. Even my T-shirts get hung dry because you never know what damage a dryer can do aside from just shrinkage. I personally wouldn't put an Indy shirt I own from Wested to Azuma to Magnoli in the dryer. To me even the cheapest Indy shirt cost too much for that.
