Light brown, orangy Aldens, to dark brown - PICS

It all started when I tried to wear my newest Aldens with a pair of jeans. Ugly. I realized even though the current offering of Aldens were darker than its "pumpkin" predicessors, they were still a bit orangy. So heres how they came out if anyone cares to know! The lite distressing I did on them showed through a bit after the dying process, I kinda like it. I took some before shots inside and out, and after shots inside and out. Then a comparison with the Aldens I dyed black, and an untouched pair of pumkin Aldens. The top pic is before and below it is after. I have other pics also, but I wanted to keep the posting to a minimum. I think I am just about the only one who likes the stitching to stay white, so like my black pair, I just dyed around it! Like it? Hate it? Any comments or questions are welcome!

Those look perfect! Not too light...not too dark...not too new but not beat up either. What kind of dyed did you use and how'd you do it?

Outstanding. Ditto on the which dye question.

Thanks.

Bro, you are the master! :notworthy: Great job. I still think Aldens with jeans looks great (the darkened boot), and yes, I too like to keep the stitching white.

(Ok, enough making your head swell!).

Peace,
Cliff

P.S. How is the academy training coming? Or have you graduated?

They look great! In this pic are some screen shots of the film boots...and you can see how much closer to the screen color you managed to get your Aldens (ignore the top and bottom photos):

Wow! Thanks for all the compliments guys! It was actually Rabittooths post that lit the fire under my arse to get this done! To answer some questions:
I wear 9 1/2 D in the Aldens, and I used Fiebings #200 Dark Brown dye. Its pretty readily available. I didnt have the balls to hit my boots with the lighter though, perhaps ill put a little black shoe polish like Rab recommended.
Cliff, thanks fer the comliments, and the academy is about 1/2 done, and Im a basket case most of the time from the stress. Having indygear as my hobby really helps....!

Wow, how did you dye 'em black and yet keep the stitching white? Nice work!

James, nice dye job. I, too, like the light stitching.

Lighting makes a huge difference, for sure, on color perception. Your dyed boots in the picture are so very, very close to my untouched boots, which are the post-pumpkin offering. Received around July 1, 2003.
