I have a pair and they are holding up to me pretty well. I like the rubber sole on them. Plain leather soles don't hold up very well for me. They are extremely comfortable as well.

I got a pair of these a few weeks ago and have had the chance wear them for a few days. Initially they were a little stiff and uncomfortable but they are getting broken-in much more now and are getting very comfy. I like the rubber sole as it has good grip and provides a little extra cushion. Overall I'm happy with them and look forward to spending more time in them.

I like the 5-eyelet, 2-hook design of the Thursday. So when I saw these Dr Scholl's on Sierra Trading Post last week, I took the plunge. For less than $50 (minus another 25% if you're a regular). They remind me of some Red Wings I had many years ago.

Obviously, the uppers are cut differently from the Alden or Wested or Thursday. More like a hunting boot than a gentleman's high-top. The lugged sole is a plus IMO. Apart from SA, plain leather soles are obsolete at best except for street wear, IMO.

Wore them all day at a public archaeology event on Saturday, and they felt broken-in by day's end. Moc toe boots are like that. Bonus: there are NO discernible brand markings (except on the very comfy footbed). A coat of leather dressing darkened them to a nice rich coffee brown.

Close Enough, Functional, and Cheap. Like yours truly. ;)

Came across this post today and it’s interesting because I was just browsing the Thursday webpage today looking to get another pair of the Diplomat boots above. Discovered they have redesigned them and discontinued the Alden look alike. The new Diplomat now resembles a Thorogood moc toe or Irish setter with a more pronounced moc toe and wedge sole. I was rather disappointed because I felt the Thursday’s were the closest to Alden’s at a price point much easier on the wallet.
