My New (Used) Expedition

Post by Trenin »

Hey guys,

This is my first time posting an actual “post”. I’ve actually been on COW since 2002, but have been a bit shy (a lot shy) and didn’t really post much. Lost my login stuff when I went inactive, but I am back. A member of the community encouraged me to become more active, and so I’m going to step out; I’ll start with this. Was wondering what you guys thought. I picked up a used Expedition on Ebay for a killer price. Always wanted one, but they stopped making them. Hopefully the link to the images works. Haven’t done this before. Interested in your thoughts. I know the sleeves are a bit short, but overall I am pretty pleased with it.

Wow, it almost looks new. Goatskin?

Welcome (back) to the boards. There's always room for one more.

Great fit overall; agree with you on the sleeves. I love that the shoulder yoke is nice and high and you don’t suffer from excessive shoulder droop. Really wish they’d continued to make these. Great find! :TOH:

Hey,

Thanks. I know; I wish they’d make them too. I think the reason I got it for a good price was the that the guy didn’t know what he was selling. It looks basically new. Dark brown goatskin. When I asked him about the jacket he told me it wasn’t an Expedition, that it was black, and that it was not goatskin. It is. Haha. Size 38. I used to have a Wested Crusade size 42 from about 2003/2004.

I saw that listing! Yeah, seller said it was black, but it was pretty clear from the photos that is it was brown. Almost jumped on it, but the three jackets in my closet were telling me not to. Good catch for you. :TOH:

Jacket looks good. Yes, your sleeves are bit too short.

If you ever want to sell that, drop me a line!

Cheers.

I have one of the prototypes that have sleeves about that length, but have found they work perfectly when you're wearing a long sleeve shirt. The slight 'ride up' doesn't matter that much!

GREAT catch!

That's a beauty. Nice fit. You can get away with those sleeves.

Well, I guess sometimes that happens with somebody who doesn't really know what they've got. Best jump on those deals and run and hide!! Good catch!

Not for nothing, but there's a G&B Expo in size 42R on the infamous auction site right now in case anyone's interested. No, it's not my listing. :)

one of the best deals out there, when you can find it is a second hand G&B. There is about 1" or more of leather tucked under the cuff, if you have a good leather tech...? ;)

That’s true on both accounts. There is a bit of extra room. Maybe I’ll have a tailor let it out 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Might not be too bad. I really like the jacket on the whole. Thought about selling it to put money toward some necessities/bills...but that would be too responsible of me!

If you do decide to have the sleeves tailored, be sure the tailor has experience working with leather. Most tailors do not have much experience with leather and COW members have had received poor results.

Several members here, myself included, have used Arrow to have jackets worked on/repaired. I think their pricing is fair and I've always received excellent service. https://www.arrowcare.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
