Well if it's a sickness I don't want the cure. My SOC from Advinatge to join my Steele & Jones SOC '36. I requested the bow and ribbon defect and Thomas
was happy to oblige. Excellent communication all the way from start to finish.
Thanks for looking,
jim

I’m waiting for mine to arrive too.
So what’s the story behind the bow and ribbon defect?
I didn’t order that, did I miss out on something?!?
Here’s mine.

I have better pics on my studio computer but I think these should work.
The last pic is of what some accept to be the actual SOC fedora. I'm not sure what the final consensus
was on it but it looked spot on to me.

I think the final consensus was that it was the real deal - or at least, I haven't heard anyone question it in a while.

Mine should arrive by the end of the week. I’ll also post pics.

I'm also expecting an AdVintage to arrive any day now, except mine is a LC, not a SOC. I did, however, get a standard
Raiders last year, so I fully sympathize with everyone anxiously awaiting their new fedora. These are trying times for the Indy gear soul.

Great pics. I'm no fedora aficionado, but if I had to choose one lid that unequivocally defines our hero, it would be the SOC.

Agreed.
For me it has always been THE hat.

Thanks.
Thomas was very responsive to feedback and requests as he worked on it. I had him put in the crease
under the ribbon and adjust the heights of the "humps".
Great communication so it really felt like he was working to make
it just like I wanted.
Tinplate,
I sent him that pic of yours as well. The droop and sweep of the brim is great on it.

That's the mark of a professional craftsman. Whatever it takes to make the customer happy. It makes the hobby so much more enjoyable to collaborate with the person making your Indy gear, to ensure a perfect, custom fit item.

Some quick and unfortunately dark shots.
The color is way off in the pics. Its closer to the original post when in proper lighting.
I'll get better pics this weekend along with a review.

Nice hat. How stiff is it? I love the hats. Only issue I have with them is they are pre bashed and the bash is set and not a result of how it actually reacts to wearing it off center.

I requested that Thomas go easy on the stiffnener. It is super soft and the brim is floppy and supple
The brim doesn't warp like pictured until it's on my head or a hat jack.
The felt is very thin but extremely dense
Tinplatejeff
Lookin sharp sir!
Do you plan on distressing it?

Mine arrived today also, but I'm keeping it boxed up until my Wested LC Hero jacket lands, then I'll open them together, and make a video of the grand unboxing of LC gear.

Yours looks great too! I ordered essentially the same thing. I went with soft-to-medium stiffness. Feels amazing.
As far as distressing, yes, but it’ll be in the future. Probably apply some Fuller’s earth before I cosplay at C2E2 in Chicago in the spring. In the meantime wearing daily as is.

I believe it has expired.

Can you tell us exactly what you specified in order to get such a great hat? For example level of stiffness, bow defect, etc.

That's a very nice looking Fedora! The price isn't bad either for beaver. I only have one that an old friend on here have me a long time ago. It might be time to buy another.

So I’m having some issues with mine now that I’ve been wearing it. The fit when I first put it on is great. Not too tight and not too loose, spot on. However, as I wear the hat I can feel it start to move, the front of the hat slips slowly upward and the rear of the hat drops down. I have to constantly adjust it, its driving me nuts. In a light breeze I can feel it move even more, almost feels like it might blow off my head. I do not understand what is going on with it. My initial thought is the sweatband is so smooth (I ordered the natural undyed leather, which is beautiful and feels great) that there is too little friction with my head allowing it to move. Another thought, which I’m thinking is more likely, is since I ordered soft-to-medium stiffness, the felt around the sweatband is too pliable alowing it to move on me. I’ve emailed Thomas a few days ago and I’m awaiting a reply from him. Anybody have any thoughts?

It may just be your head shape, or the hat is slightly big. I have a rounder head and noticed that sometimes happens with my head. Get some tissue paper (paper towel or felt) and put it under the sweatband in the front or back to add thickness. See if the added thickness makes a difference.

Yes. I have a round oval head. Same thing with most of my hats. Though it doesn’t really bother me. Believe it or not though. Some sweatbands get looser as they absorb oils from your head. My penman raiders is like this while my AB sweat seems to shrink.

OK, the hat came with some cork spacer material.
I’ll add that and see if it helps.
Thanks.

It’s a bit better, but still scoots around a little. Looks so gorgeous I’m OK with it.

Yet to order a SOC one, but the LC three trials he made for me is amazing , like you pulled it out of the screen.
