Are Shoemart and J Crew the only Alden dealers online?

I believe you can call The Alden of Washington D.C. and place an order over the phone.
It's where I bought my last pair (in person) but I'm fairly sure you can buy them over the phone.

If you know your size in the boots, check out ebay or grailed.com for good deals.

If you've never worn them, keep in mind that they are orthopedic shoes and it would be best to actually get fitted correctly.
You don't necessarily need to buy them locally, but you should check them out.

And even if they don't have the 405's, as orthopedic shoes, they will likely have something with a similar last that will be close.

See if there are any stores close by...

You can also purchase 405s and other Indy boot variations through the Alden of Madsion and Alden of Carmel shops. Both are great places to do business with. Be careful though, both shops do a lot of custom orders for things like snuff suede Indy boots and you'll end up spending far more than you intended.

I second the Alden shop in DC. Great service and excellent selection of boots, dress shoes and casual shoes. :D
