<snif>
I won my whip on eBay on 5/28 and I have still yet to receive it. I sent them the check. It was cashed, naturally. The whip was supposed to ship on the 6/19 and still nothing. <snif>
They have been fairly friendly with helping locate it. These things do happen I understand that. But, "The Für is not a patient man."
Anybody else this problem. I want to start...cracking...on this but it's hard to do it without a whip.

Sorry to hear about your problems with shipping. I'm still confused on your post. They helped locate it, so where is it? Sounds like if it is missing any reputable business would have set it insured, so get your money back and cut your losses with these guys. For your budget I could recommend a few others....

According to them, they use a shipper to take their goods to the USPS for shipment. So, they have to have their shipper track where the package went before they contact the USPS. Then, if it was lost by the USPS, there is a 30 day wait before they will start an investigation. So, the waiting game begins.
Indiana,
Thanks for the tip. I will check them out.
More to come...

Pyroxene's whip - sounds far too familiar!

Hey Pyro,
I am in the same boat as you are! I won a whip From Texasbullwhips on eBay and I waited for three weeks with no response. I called up and was told that they have received payment but were not sure what it was for (although it did not stop them from cashing it).
I was told that the whip would go out the following week. Three weeks late, still no whip. I wrote back to them and they said they just got back to the office due to all of the flooding in Texas and the whip should go out in a few weeks.
Generally the system works as follows: You win a bid contact the seller and send payment. Seller receives payment and ships product. Pretty cut & dry.
Everybody else seems to be able to do it, flood or no flood. The stalling is ridiculous. I am wondering if they do not have an actual whip to sell and wait until payment to start production on them...
Good luck with yours! I will keep you posted...BTW, did yours have the "Indiana Jones bullwhip on steroids" caption on eBay?

Heh. I don't remember that quote. I will have to check. I am going to call them on Thursday just to see "Where it is." I will ask them about the production question as a "Hey, by the way...." type deal.
Stay Tuned...

And the saga continues...
I have called them today and they were able to trace it. The whip was misdelivered by their shipping company. According to them, the whip is on its way back to them for reshipping. I asked that he throw in some extra poppers for waiting so long. He agreed and said it would go out after they get it repacked.
Oh and I forgot about the production question. Sorry.
Stay tuned for more info....
And now back to our regular scheduled program already in progress.

I have finally received my whip from texasbullwhips.com. It came in the mail. The whip has this reddish dye all over it. Perhaps someone can tell me what they think it's for. I have tried rubbing it off with acetone with little success.
The whip itself, is a nice whip. Has the swivel handle and nylon core, of course. As stated else where on this forum, it's a good whip to pratice with but the next one I get will be a David Morgan.

The reddish "dye" is probably a shellac of some kind. A lot of whip makers put it on a new whip because it seals up the raw edges and makes the whip more presentable. It will eventually flake off with use. I don't remember having shellac on my TB whip but they could have changed their practices. Morgan, Strain, Stenhouse and many others coat their whips with shellac.
Of course it could just be a dye as you stated. Maybe they dye the whip after it has been constructed by dipping it. Again, my TB whip came as a dark brown and has only gotten darker, almost black. I say to just leave it and study how it ages. Post some pix if you can...
But for the love of all that is holy, keep that acetone away from your whips! You people and your acetone! Good grief.

They use a separate shipper to deliver to the post office??? Are we to assume that this company is so large and handles so many orders that someone can't simply drop it off at the post office. I mean, doesn't every town have one?

Hi Pyro,
I have not heard resonatingly great things abot TexasBullwhips, though I hope that yours serves you well. As to next whips, I say save your money and pass on the DM, unless you want to match the brands used in the fillms. When I heard of the changes to his newer whips that made the handles smaller etc., I decided that I wanted the look more than the brand name (which is costly.)
I can personally recommend Joe Strain and EC Whips Indy style bullwhips, having used both with great glee ! I own 2 Strains and they are amazing. I have cracked some of Jim's ECWhips and found them excellent and well-balanced. Both are built like tanks.
My .02
Cheers

Hey Jerry,
have you been back to Blanco county since then to see if they have any killer bulls yet,
.
Since you posted that, I think about that every time I read that statement on the Texas bullwhips Auctions.
Cheers

Don't you mean Texas Bull$h*# Auctions?
They have got to be the biggest liars on ALL of eBay. They give Texas a bad name.

Hi Robert.
Although you badmouth Texas Bullwhips, it is because of them and their "Killer Bulls" and "Indiana Jones Whip on Steroids," products that I ordered from them. I eventually, after many phone calls and e-mails, received a crappy piece of garbage whip which was essentially better than nothing. It was such a piece of junk that I was disgusted with it (as a decent Indy whip) and sought alternate affordable Indy-style whips. Finally, I bought and received one from ...Robert Duke. Great whip. Great communications and great vendor. It is inferior products such as Texas Bullwhips that make us appreciate the terrific products and vendors we have on this forum. I for one give thanks to Texas Bullwhips for opening my eyes.
