A new jacket company?

After talking to Ren on the phone I asked if he had heard anything about this company. He said he never even heard of the company and I should post this link. So if anyone could add some info on this it would be great.

That was the first jacket I was considering. I don't think I'd get it. For one thing, the bottom of the sleeves look kinda long, and it's actually more than the Wested (without shipping).
Regards, Daryl.

I gotta agree with Kentucky Blues on this one. If that jacket was 100 bucks or under, I'd say it'd be worth picking up as a beater. But at that price, why bother? The Wested is the real deal after all, and they are both in the same price range. I will say that aside from the cuff issue, the jacket doesn't look bad...I've seen worse. I am surprised this website is so blatantly using the Indiana Jones name to sell this product. I don't see "officially licensed" anywhere on the page??? Kinda shocking that Lucas & co. haven't come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Just for the record. Because the american dollar is in the pooper right now. According to the Wested website. My coat will be 331 Dollars. and thats not knowing how much he will charge extra for goat and any other mods I might want done to the jacket??????? Plus add a 22 dollar customs charge on top of that and it wouldnt surprise me if im looking at 400 bucks for a coat.

The fact that your jacket will be Goatskin rather than any of the other types of leather Peter offers won't change the price. Plus usual mods. cost about 5 pounds (8 or 9 bucks???) The only way the jacket ends up costing more is if the size is larger. The bigger the size, the higher the price. I still say no matter what you're better off with the Wested. Out of curiousity, what kinds of modifications were you thinking about for your jacket?

My TOD goat was $315 with shipping. The only extras I had were gussets and storm flap snaps. I was surprised too. Unfortunately Peter's costs don't change when the dollar changes.

With the dollar being at a low ebb the current exchange rate for an Indyjacket plus postage at £165 is $303.
Maths is not my strong subject but its better than Indyfist. I make $331 plus $22 to be $353 a long way short of $400.
In any event I still charge the same price in £'s and bill in £'s and can only hope for everyone sake that the $ gets back to a sensible level.
cheers
Peter

Ain't that the truth. In any case, thanks, Peter.

Yep, I know that when (if) the $$ exchange rate gets a better I'll probably end up ordering an authentic lamb from Wested. Man, I wish I hadn't drug my feet on that. Do y'all think the dollar exchange rate will get any worse for us in the US.

I dunno...it's already worse than what it was back in November of last year, when I went to England...and it was pretty bad then. The cab ride from the airport? (I suspect a rip-off here) 52 pounds!!! You know what that would have been in good ol' greenbacks???

As for what I want:
A 49 Long "raiders jacket in goat with the "Chris King" specs though.
Chris told me the main things to ask for are a collar with 2 1/2 inch wide tips and the zipper should extend all the way down to the bottom of the jacket (within about 1/4 inch). Also since New England has been freezeing these last couple of winters (what happened to global warming?) I wanted to mail him an insulated jacket liner and see if he could install interior buttons or snaps to hang the liner. Since Peter has popped in Im wondering what the Chris king mods are and what do you think this whole package would run in pounds with shipping to Connecticut.
P.S. Peter I love your jackets, and I know your not responsible for the dollar being at its all time low. Im just itching to get a jacket as soon as possible. Heck I even want to pick up a black one down the road.

It depends on how far it was, taxis are not a very economical way to travel in the UK, in fact they're probably the worst.

The ride was from Heathrow to Marylebonne (sp?). Our hotel was literaly within spitting distance of the Marylebonne tube station. My girlfriend had spent time in the UK a few years back (she studied for a semester at Middlesex University) and she said her ride from Heathrow to Colindale was only 30 pounds. While I'm no expert on London geography, it seems to me a ride to Marylebonne would be cheaper, right? Regardless, I had a wonderful time, although I didn't get to make any of the Indy Gear stops (i.e. Wested, HJ or Noel Howard) as time didn't allow. I REALLY wish I could have stopped by Wested though, especially now that I have my new jacket. It's everything I ever wanted and I owe Peter and all rest of the crew there a handshake for their fine work.

£52 does seem a bit steep!
You should have taken the bus or tube!!
Glad you enjoyed your stay in our capitol anyway...

Another forum has a thread on trips to Indiana like locales going right now, but here's an idea. How about a vacation package that visits the spots where Indy Gear is made? It could be put together by a Gearhead with the means and inclination to set up such a trip.
This is half in jest, as such a package would have very limited appeal, and Peter, Noel and the others all have businesses to run and don't need the distractions of being part of a tour. As much as I would love to see where my jacket was made (I love visiting all types of plants and factories anyway) I know they all have better things to do than give me a guided tour.
It would still be fun to take that trip, though...
Cheers,
IG

Although my trip was not planned around such locations as Wested, MBA and HJ, I did plan on trying to find all three and even went so far as to use mapquest to locate such places as MBA, which as it turns out wasn't all that far from my Hotel. I had even emailed Mr. Howard to see if it would be possible to swing by his shop. (with the possibility of purchasing a few things and saving on the shipping.) Sadly, he never replied, and I believe this is due to MBA being owned and operated by others now. I had also emailed Wested, having ordered my jacket late in Oct. I thought it may be ready for delivery by then (Third week in Nov.) and again I figured on picking it up in person rather than having to deal with shipping costs (and that dang PBB Global Logistics or whatever it is). Again, I hit a brick wall when I discovered (thanks to a prompt reply from Wested) that my order had not been recieved (My mistake
) but they said they would expedite the jacket if I reordered and try to have it to me by Christmas. Upon my return to the States, I reordered and told Wested that delivery by Christmas wasn't important as it wasn't a gift, and it showed up on my doorstep Dec. 26th
. To get back on topic after this long winded post, I'll say this, it has been a great experience, not just this time but when I ordered my previous jacket, to deal with Wested Leather. My other wested was 4 or 5 years old and I was very impressed with the overall improvements to the jacket Peter and Co. have made in the last few years. Truly a great piece of gear...a prized addition to my collection and the first thing I reach for on my way out the door. Indiana Fist, if you're trying to decide between these two jackets, go for the Wested...
choose wisely.

Good question...I'd guess somewhere in the Raven Bar scene...I'm not sure though, as it's one of the Avatars available from Rabbittooth's website, not one I made myslef. Looks like the Raven Bar hat to me, with an extra dent in the back.

UPDATE 2/13/04: My avatar isn't the same. It's not Indy anymore, it's me. Just for the record, neither myself nor my hat appears in any of the above mentioned scenes.
