I don't know what to say about this hat...

(Moderators: I know I'm violating the rules by posting the ebay link below, but I'm requesting an exception to policy due to the fact that this will not alter the price of the item or start a bidding war between COW members.)

I came across this gem and thought I'd post it for a laugh or for everyone to question the sanity of the seller:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Indiana-Jones-T ... 2393066573" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It looks like there's only 5 left, which I'm guessing must be lined with gold for that price. Not sure what the seller is thinking with a 14,000% markup.

Sure it's expensive. But at that price, he's only got to sell one.

I thought this for sure had to be a prank, but it looks like the seller has sold many other items at, shall we say, a more reasonable rate.

Still, the reviews he includes in the item description are pretty hilarious. Copy and pasted below.

"It's so easy! Just put it on your head, and go."
- Andrew Boise, ID

"I literally became Indiana Jones!!!"
- Indiana Jones Princeton, NJ

"Make heads great again."
- Donald Trump Washington DC

I found the following on another forum, it may offer some explanation...

"When you list multiple lots of the same item for sale on ebay on a "buy it now" basis, where it appears on a search will sometimes depend on how long the listing has been going.
If a seller has sold out of one particular item and is waiting for new stock, they sometimes increase the price to a stupid figure so that the listing won't drop off and have to go to the bottom of the list when they get new stock and relist the goods.

If you look at this listing for example
9 Cell Battery for DELL Inspiron 1525 1526 1545 M911G | eBay
you will see that the seller has sold 163 of these, all at £16.99, but has recently revised the price to £1699. Even though they've not sold any recently, the listing still shows near the top of the list when you do a search for "Dell 9 cell battery", so when they restock, the listing will be easily visible to people searching for that product."

I do have an answer to your title for this post ("I don't know what to say about his hat..."): Are you kidding me.... bad dream! Bad something.... illusion.... this never happened, I didn't really see this! Or.... :rolling: , it off. I am truly amazed here at, first; the stupidity of someone who would try to pull this off and, secondly; worried that some desperate person, wanting an 'Indy-hat-of-some-sorts', just might buy into this scam! Shame on this 'seller'! Unless the hat's have some type of mystical properties to them, which we are unaware :TOH: ! W>

Well, prank or not, it's clearly not supposed to be taken seriously. If somebody does buy one, they deserve to be ripped off. If the seller is doing it for the reasons that Bigfoot pointed out, clearly he's just having a laugh in the process, and trying to make it obvious.

I was entertained.

My love of British literature and television has taught me how to appreciate the absurd.

So you are saying I SHOULDN'T be excited to receive it? The seller told me it was signed by the real Indiana Jones....so I bought it. He knocked 5 bucks off so I figured I had to jump on it. Michaelson told me it was a bargain.

OK. For more levity, try this:. What did the travelling hat say to his friend? You stay here, I'll go on a head!

I was going to leave it as just a 'typo' but this explanation makes a lot more sense..
