STEELE & JONES '38

Hi everyone, Diego sent me pictures of my new jacket fresh out of the workshop. So i thought i'd show you all.
i've been looking for a accurate LC jacket for a while now, I have a few Wested LC jackets and while being nice & well made jackets
they never really scratched the LC itch i have. And after seeing some pictures of a few members here showing off their S&J jackets
i had to have one.
So i ordered the "chocolate premium horsehide '38"
I asked for black cotton lining & " off center" pockets ( just like the smithsonian jacket)
I can't wait to get this baby in my hands
thanks Diego can't wait!
I'll have a full and detailed review with pictures once i get it guys.

Very nice! I really like the amount of distressing on that one. Looks used without being artificial.

That is the best looking one yet. Perfect distressing, perfect details. Love those pockets. Makes me want to order another to go along with my current S&J LC!

Thanks everyone on the kind words!
Important to mention is, this is a small jacket, size 35 -custom, obviously-
It is very difficult to keep all the details, nuances and proportions of the original one, when making the sizing regression.
Kind regards.-

Yeah, I forgot to mention the size of the jacket. I'm a tall guy whos very thin...who am I kidding I'm skin and bones
I normally wear a size 36 but I've always had problems with the chest being to loose, I'm one of those people who can literally eat anything in any amount anytime and not gain a pound. ( skinny guy problems). With the measurements I provided Diego, he recommended a size 35. Like Diego said with a jacket this small ( compared to Harrison's size 42) I figured it wouldn't look EXACTLY like the film jacket. That being said I think this jacket looks wonderful. Can't wait to have it in hand. Thanks guys for the compliments, from the look of it Diego hit a home run.

NEW butter-soft "Chocolate Premium Horsehide".
I believe it's the lightweight.
The leather on mine is thin and very lightweight

That's the standard thickness Premium Horsehide.
7 to 9 mm thick
Thin version is 5 to 7 mm thick.
Like I've said to Obersalzberg by email, our Horsehide it's TOP QUALITY
Soft, pliable, not heavy at all. And strong as horsehide is.
Forget everything you know or believe about horsehide.
Not trying to be arrogant, but this is the best skin, ever.
If it were up to me, and I were part of the production, the next Indy movie jacket will be made out of this skin.
It would give the strenght, a real adventure jacket needs, plus, the movement and dinamic we all love on the Raiders jacket. Not rigid and stiff.
(
not saying we were lately contacted by an important Hollywood costume company, to order one of our gear items...not at all. I denied any question about that. )
Cheers.-

i've always been reluctant to try horsehide thinking it was too heavy and stiff. But this stuff is beautiful.
I think my quest for a LC jacket that satisfies me is over. Now onto my second favorite jacket The Temple of Doom.

Just ordering my Cazadora 38 in Premium Chocolate Horsehide for Diego. It will be my winter jacket since I already own a thin cowhide Cazadora 36 which is perfect for Fall and Spring. He is going to make it slightly bigger and looser so I can wear sweatshirt and layer under it. Once I get it in few months will post pictures of it. Thanks Diego you guy make the best jackets.

It might be longer than a few months. I ordered in June and haven't received it yet. No offense to Diego, as it is his side job, but don't expect it in less than 3 months. Just forget it and then be pleasantly surprised!

Looks fantastic! Best LC jacket I've seen outside of the movie (although I suspect with the forthcoming Bill Kelso LC jacket, that's soon going to be a hotly-contested title). You're a lucky man to be getting that jacket. Is it lambskin? It has a bit of the look of a cowhide jacket (as does the screen jacket, to my eye).

I agree with you all. I was in awe when I saw these pics. I'm out of town for 10 days, so hopefully it will be waiting for me when I get back, but the tracking number says its still stuck in customs, probably will take at least that.
Its Chocolate Premium Horsehide. Diego said it's the nicest leather they've used yet, and that it takes him 4 hours to distress it! It shows. For their price, it's a ridiculous value, even if it takes 6 months. I placed my order March 3rd. So hard to wait for these things, at least I got my S&J LC Fedora in the meantime. Also amazing. Man these guys have it down.
Will definitely be posting pics upon arrival.

Received my jacket on Monday. Looked amazing but unfortunately I guess I messed up on one measurement and the top shoulder seam was about an inch too wide on each side making it too boxy on me. Luckily I have a great tailor and just got it back a few mins ago and it fits perfect! Man, what a jacket. Even my tailor thought it was an amazing quality and this is coming from a former bespoke suit maker. He's amazing.
Coming from a Raiders jacket it is definitely a looser fitting jacket, but that is just what we see on screen, and will be great in the winter when I can wear a nice wool sweater underneath.
I absolutely love it. Its beautiful and many thanks to Diego. Took about 8 months total but worth it for the price and this incredible quality.
Anyway!! Here are some photos I took outside, sticking my phone on the fence and trying to catch the last bit of sunlight.
Steele and Jones LC Fedora
Steele and Jones LC Jacket
WPG Shirt
Distressed web belt off ebay
Redwings leather belt
Wested Pants
Custom chocolate Roo hide whip
Very distressed Webley holster
Real MK Bag
Leather strap off ebay that I dyed
Some rugged boots that have seen a lot of miles that are very Alden like but not afraid to destroy.
Enjoy!

Very nice hope mine looks that good on me. Diego said he would not be able to start on mine until mid October, so I hope I get it in time to wear during cooler weather this winter.

Thanks for the review
It looks great on you!
It took 6 months.
We improved our LC patterns on this timeframe.
I'm working to speed things up.
Not easy.
Friends, this level of accuracy, quality, attention to details, it takes money (a lot) or time.
95% choose time.
For the best LC jacket replica, IMO, is the wise choice.
Cheers.-

My bad that is correct, 6 months. I ordered on March 3rd. I'm bad at math! Lol.
If any are on the fence, don't be. Like I said even my tailor was blown away. I really cannot imagine anyone being disappointed.

Can't beat S&J's. I've been in love with mine since i got it.
Thank you!
Yours looks very cool! Did you do a wash on it or has it just naturally taken on more wrinkles? Do you think yours is a slimmer fit than mine? Hard to tell. It looks a bit darker too. Did it darken after the wash (if you did do that?" Just curious.
This is definitely my "biggest/baggiest" jacket I own. It's exactly like what I see on screen though and is definitely my size, so no one take that the wrong way. It just takes a little getting used to as I usually wear fitted/slim jackets, and my Raiders jacket is definitely slimmer. Skinny jeans and this jacket don't mix ha.

This is why the LC jacket is a popular choice for Indy winter wear. You can layer it well, and comfortably.

Exactly why it was a selling point for me too. California gets just cold enough here for a leather jacket and wool sweater in winter. I'm looking forward to seeing that combination. But right now in San Jose it averages 95F....

Nah....the reason it takes so long is because this is not our main business. We have full time jobs.
