Yesterday I went up to Walmart to get myself a pair of Wells Lamont leather gloves #1130. I joked with myself about finding a pair of 1123's on a lone hook. Well I didnt find any 1123's but I found a pair of gloves I was hoping someone could help me I.D. Because I did also buy a pair of 1130's and sorry but the mystery gloves are a closer match. To me anyways.
first the famous 1123's in question. (please pardon my rushed Photoshop work. I swear I do this for a living)
Image
and now the mystery gloves I bought at walmart. ( yes I tried to line them up perfect with the top picture, the right glove is slightly folded )
Image
and the logo stamped in the glove (turned B/W to see better)
Image
WHY? Do I think its a closer match? 2 Things, the color of the leather and the cloth trim around the opening. The 1130's I bought are much more yellow in color and have the stitching around the opening but no fabric. The leather of the glove is just rolled inside the opening and stitched.
I have to be honest. In the store I thought I had scored. But bringing them back to work and pulling up the image on the main indy gear page. I quikly saw the stitching around the thumb was wrong. DRAT! O.K. what I can tell you about the gloves. There was no card board name tag or price. So I had to convince the cashier they where the same glove only a different shade. So all I can give you is the info on the inside tag.
(as it appears on tag)
Wells
Lamont
L
Large
Cowhide Leather
Made In China
RN32198
CE
Before any one asks. this was the only pair in the store. Trust me I looked! I thought the RN# on the tag would be the style but the 1130's have a RN# 32198 printed on there tags. So any help in figuring out what I bought would be cool and possibly for other! Maybe these can be ordered!!!!!

P.S. If you havent spent the 8 dollars on a set of 1123's I suggest you run to Walmart or the closest place. I had to dig for the pair of 1130's I bought. There not stopping making them. They changed them!!!!!! All the new ones on the front of the hooks and suede palms in them.

Those look like the standard 1130's to me, though I have noticed that the darker versions (like the one you have pictured) are usually the large, where the lighter colored ones are the medium size. Not sure why they would use two differently pigmented leathers for the two sizes, but that's been the norm for quite a while. Regards. Michaelson

When I was looking thru the Wells Lamont website awhile ago,
I noticed that they have model 1130's listed in both their consumer and industry devisions, but they looked slightly different.
The top pair look just like the industrial version.
The bottom pair is the consumer version. You can tell by how the thumb is attached.

The ones I have pictured are the light ones. Every pair of 1130's in the store were a dark yellow tan with no fabric on the cuff. If pictues in the top post are the normal 1130's then they have in fact been changed. This is the 2 pairs I bought. This picture was taken with a flash. To show the drastic difference in color. Also please not the cuffs. and the pair of 1130's I just bought has the logo of a doney in a circle stamped in the leather. The same donkey head that appears on the cardboard sleeve.

Well, like I said, if those were hanging in the Winchester or Tullahoma Tennessee stores, one would be medium, the other large, and they're this exact color and appearance too. I've purchased so many over the years for myself and to send fellow fans, it's become almost second nature now to look at the color instead of the tag. Regards. Michaelson

Dalexs, the top pair I posted are the 1123's from the picture on indygear.com I just took the other glove out and moved them together to make a small pic. Then I took the gloves I bought and lined them up for a better compare shot.

both are a size large. The logo's are different and the cuffs are different. Just did some research on there site thanks to Dalexs and I have purchased 1130's industrial! The horse head logo is the marking of industrial. Now all is known thank you! Looks like walmart is now mainly carrying the normal more yellowish version in my area.

That's what has irritated me, as the old 1123's are the color of the current 1130's mediums, but I wear large, so I've NEVER been able to pick up a pair that's the correct color, with the discontinuing of the 1123's. :? Regards. Michaelson

Hi ho glove seekers,

I've been using these type of gloves all my life (I grew up on a ranch in North Dakota) so I thought I'd throw my .02 worth in. First, these gloves are awesome. The cow leather ones are tough as can be. I use them when installing barbed-wire, hauling equipment...well just about everthing. Except that is when it is wet out. Cow just doesn't stand up very well (at least without treatment) to moisture. They usually get crusty and shrink; which might be good if yours are a bit big. When it comes to working in wet conditions I go for the deer/buckskin. Although they are not quite as tough as cow (marginally) they are not damaged by water. No crustiness or shrinkage.

Don't know if that helps, but for people not doing heavy work I would suggest looking into the deerskin gloves. They have great features and feel great!

For what it's worth,
TreasureHunter

P.S. Since we don't really know exactly what gloves Indy wore who's to say which ever ones you choose aren't screen accurate.

Last time I did order industrial, it was through a videography supply house when I ran the production studio at the plant I was working at, and they ALL came in the yellow color, so it's a toss of the dice when you're dealing with WL! (grins) Regards. Michaelson

I Picked up a pair of 1130's at my local Wal-Mart recently too.
I noticed that the mediums and larges were all the lighter color
and the x-larges were the darker color. So it might very well
depend on from which batch run your store received what color
your size will be. Also, mine did not have the fabric edge on
the cuff. I'm sure Wells Lamont is turning out many thousands of
these gloves each day. It would be hard for them to have all
the colors the same.

Regards,
Indybill

The 1130s I got are the same design as the gloves on the right, but the same color as the pair on the left. Mine are size large.

I really think the cuff is on the industrial only. So again look for the horse head Logo stamped on the glove. Not the donkey

Maybe it's me, but now I'm all confussed :-s
Weren't Indy's gloves a yellow-ish color?!! :-s And his gloves were the 1130's right? The 1132's were the substitute because the 1130's were discontinued (at the time). So, evidently the 1130's are re-continued?
Am I getting this right? Someone please STOP THE INSAINITY!!!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

So the Wal-Mart gloves are the 1130's? And the 1123's are still being produced?

There's the rare occasion when you may come across a pair of 1123s in a mom and pop hardware store or something.

1130s replaced the 1123s. 1123s are no longer being produced.

So once and for all, which ones should I get and which ones are more screen accurate? 1130 industrial, or regular? Cowskin or deer? Etc...I plan on using them for work around the house, carrying wood, etc. maybe even use them in the snow. Anythoughts?

Indy N.

\:D/ \:D/ \:D/ I am sooo proud of myself! On saturday, I stopped into my local hardware store and looked in the Gardening Section, where they keep all of their work gloves. In the past, I've looked to see if they had any 1130's or 1132's, if they carried WLGloves at all. Well, to my luck, I found a pair of Cowhide WL 1130's!!! \:D/ I immediatly bought the gloves for $11.85 with tax and have been wearing them ever since. I am so excited!! They had both Medium and Large and they were both the same color, and they don't have the different color material on the cuffs, and they have the WL pony on the left glove. My only concern was either getting the Mediums or Large. I bought the Mediums and yet they still feel just a tad too big?!?!?!? It doesn't bother me soo much anymore, but it did at first because when I went to Planet Hollywood in Orlando, I put my hands in HF's hand-prints that they had on the wall, and we have the same size hands! So is it natural for the gloves to be a tad too big?

Indy N.

BTW: They did not have any of the other gloves mentioned on COW. Which I thought was pretty interesting.
