Hello everyone,

I was at the London premiere of Star Wars The Force Awakens a couple of days back. I brought with me the Poet Hat from the Herbert Johnson shop in Piccadilly Street that I bought that morning. I then waited for Harrison to come.
He was right in front of me, I asked him to sign my fedora and he gently replied "I'm sorry. I have to go." and he walked away. I had even the marker in my hand and I was giving it to him, so it would have been a matter of seconds for him to sign it. Before that he was happily signing everything the fans had in their hands, but for some reasons he refused to sign the fedora. It's very strange to me that he signed every single piece of paper out there and then skipped my big hat. Is there any particular reason for this?

I looked online and I saw that some fedoras signed by him are sold for charity or other things, so it might that be the cause? Is it possible that he refused to sign the hat in order to keep the fedoras signed by him a rare object?

Is there someone in this forum that has a fedora signed by him during some event? Do you know any facts about this?

At some point you have to cut it off. Unfortunately you happened to be at that point. Im sure it wasn't personal. If he stood there and signed everything he'd surely miss his scheduled stuff they have for him and get griped at by someone. Sorry to hear it though.

I would be disappointed too for sure. I've actually missed autograph sessions by 5 minutes.

It's not unusual for celebrities to decline autographing unsanctioned items due to licensing agreements and/or to discourage profiteering.

If he passed on the hat, then moved on to another autograph, that's probably what happened. If he stopped signing altogether, it was just his time to go. Like Chris said, ya gotta cut it off somewhere.

I concur with the above comments. I would also add, though I am not Ford and do not (in any way) know how his mind processes information, I would hunch that 'he' chose not to sign, based on the concept that you might turn around a re-sale for personal gain (profit). If you were in a position to have the time/opportunity to explain that the request was for others benefits, he might very well have taken the time to respond. It boils down to your intentions and not his response. I don't mean to sound judicious here, only pointing out that he, more then likely, made a judgmental decision on what he thought your intentions were based on. W>

It sound like he had to go, as in, time was up. could jus the my interpretation of your description. No idea. I can't even imagine being that close to Harrison Ford.....

As you stated, he walked away so it sounds like just luck of the draw and he had to be pulled into something else, something I've been at the brunt of numerous times with celebs (not including awkward urinal encounter with Brad Pitt). Had you been one of the earlier lucky folks, you probably could've gotten it signed, licensed or unlicensed. Or just do what my friends and I sometimes do aka asking an attractive lady-friend/spouse or young child to hand the item over for signing. Being an adult male kinda stinks sometimes.

Time was probably close to ending and you had an unlicensed item. Ford refuses send-ins and unlicensed items when he signs with a company to offer autographs (like Official Pix and CA). He only sticks to photos and posters at said opportunities. He'll also sign figures on the streets, but again those are licensed. It might even be more strict now that Disney's the parent company. Official Pix no longer carries licensed photos.

Wow, Official Pix is on the outs? I wonder if it's temporary while they rework an agreement with Disney.

wow, I can't even imagine as an actor having to keep the merchandising do's and don'ts in my head. Is this figure legit, etc..... crazy talk.

Nope. Didn't say figures. They're legit and he will sign those in crowd situations. But for sit-downs with companies, its officially sanctioned stuff only.

Yep. It was after the buy out of LFL. They never said why, just the deadline of selling off their old stock. Don't know if rights pricing was too high or if Disney just wanted it all in-house, but OPX is out as a photo supplier. Too bad as they were awesome with customer service. Haven't seen any any licensed photos out since, so I don't know what's up.

If you think that's bad, try memorizing traffic code for an entire state. Even more fun!

That is a bummer. They always had such cool options, and the occasional Indy offerings.
