Save a Wested!!

So...I just re-acquired an old, late 90s Wested (back when they put the straps up near the opening for the handwarmer "pockets." Great distressed cowhide...looks to be from the same run of leather used on that first Wested I got from you, M! So...I'm pretty pumped...

The issue? The lining is totally decimated...it's their old satin lining, and was never a very durable lining anyway.

So, I'm thinking about having it re-lined, and having some minor alterations done...sleeves could stand to be a bit longer longer, and I want to have the pocket flaps more scalloped, and the back piece of leather on the flap folded under (I thought that was a recent shortcut Wested had started taking, but, apparently, that backing piece has always had the exposed leather edge showing...and I don't like it.) when the re-stitch.

My question? Who can I trust with this project? M...if you were getting it done, who would the jacket go to?

Thanks, guys...in advance...for the advice!

Cheers!

The lining is "decimated"? Decimate means one in ten of a population or an army has been killed by pestilence or war. Or, if you mean only a tenth of the lining is cactus then it's not so bad... ;) Sorry just being pedantic. Use of words change and I know people sometimes use decimate these days to mean something's stuffed.

Johnson Leathers in San Fran is one of the finest leather crafts/repair venues in the USA. But how much do you want to spend? Is it really worth it? Alan at JL will give you a quote if you send him photos.

USW's now relines ALL brands. Drop Sarge a line, Dawg.

:rolling: ...you kill me, CM...mostly I was going for hyperbole ;) .

And, yes, I knew Sargecwas doing the re-lining, but didn't know if he would take on the alterations....so, thanks! Good to know!

I'll be giving Sarge a call!

Cheers!

Arrow out of Kansas City did a bang up job on a jacket for my Bride a couple of years ago. And they offer full alteration services so if USW doesn't pan out, give Arrow a try.

Indiana Jeff
