It is unfortunate but he's made thousands of whips. Also I believe there is still several at Western stage props that can be attained so grab them while you can.

Murphy retired in 2013 if I remeber right. He is now making archery bows

Retired? That's a shame. Looks like Western Stage Props is all out of his Indy 4 style whip now.
Too bad, that was one on my list.

I thought Western Stage didn't have his in stock for quite a while now...

Ah well, I'll really have to treasure my Jacka now! ;)

I'm out of it for a little while and everyone starts retiring.... Sorry to hear this news, honestly never thought he would do that.

When I joined in 2008 David Morgan was already in the early retirement phase of whip building and Joe Strain, Terry Jacka and Bernardo were the powerhouse builders at the time. I have been really lucky to own a whip from each of these builders and cannot thank them enough for the joy they have brought me (also some welts...). It just makes you take a step back when you realize over the course of eight years that they are stepping/stepped down and now the quantity of these items will become rare as time goes on. I still have two from Terry and one from Bernardo and will cherish them for the rest of my life.

I really love my del carpio raiders. Cracks so effortlessly and is aging nicely.
