Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I have a bunch of Indy jackets in different leathers and makers but all in brown. Today I ordered a Wested Raiders jacket in black cowhide. Was wondering if anyone has one and can post some pics. I am one of those weird types that doesn't like mixing brown accessories with black accessories. I wear black jackets with same color boots, belt and gray or black fedoras.....Cannot do brown with black. Have too many pairs of black boots I don't wear with the brown jackets.

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I remember WAY back when someone ordered one in black goatskin, so it has been done.
Definitely looking forward to seeing what you get!

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I, too, have trouble bucking the impulse to coordinate. However, I find that brown and black go well together. For me, it's gray and brown that gives me pause.
I have a goatskin Indy in black, not a Wested, which served me well. I even did gray-scale Indy gear once at a summit, using that jacket. I'll try to dig up a pic or two. But I think the style looks great in black.

I wear black jackets with brown boots and belts all the time but I don't own any other brown clothes (other than jackets).
I prefer the Indy look in a grey/black scale which Chewie did really well and it looked great.

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I thought it was Chewie that had a black Indy jacket.
I used to not worry about matching my brown jacket, but now that I have brown and black options I do tend to match all my leather accessories.

Indiana Jeff

I think the black leather would work well with the indy gear - look at those early scenes in raiders, the jacket looks black in the temple and looks great.

Oh, well, you better tell Chewy, as that's how he posted it when he got it.

If that pic was the black jacket, it's amazing how the lighting plays tricks. It seems almost a very dark brown. Of course, that could just be my brain color adjusting!!!!

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I have a couple dark brown goat jackets that look black inside. Only look brown in sunlight.
Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
I have one of those from US Wings. I found out that it was dark brown only after I laid it on top of something pure black. I like it, and it's a nice hide, but I simply don't wear it at all because it's too heavy for regular Southern California use, and the color doesn't go with enough of my dressy work clothes. (It's on a certain auction site right now). I wish I had gotten one in black while Wings still had them, because it would look sharp with a suit and tie!Glenville86 wrote:I have a couple dark brown goat jackets that look black inside. Yeah, their short lived black goatskin was a looker too.

The US Wings in dark brown goat is one of the two I have that are hard to tell from black inside. Got it on EBay for cheap.

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
Yeah, I've seen a few of those dark brown Wings Goatskins, and they look very black indoors. In fact, I think I was in the room with one when the pic above was taken! Or maybe it was one of their A-2's.
The black has served me well, and I got it second hand. It took about a week or so to shape the collar by hand, but it's been a favorite since. At the time, it fit like it had been custom made for me. Thankfully, the fit was a little snug compared to most of the other Signature Series in that size, so I can still get away with it if I layer.
If anybody ever gets a shot at one in, I recommend taking it.

Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
The Jacket came today and I like it very much. No pics as it is just a Wested Raiders jacket in black cowhide. Funny thing is it does not look much darker than my G&B in goat and my US Wings in goat that are both dark brown. Whenever I get some time with the wife not here which is almost never, I will get some pics of my jacket and hat collections.
Re: Wested Raiders in Black Cowhide
A bit tangential this..
Has anyone here ever dyed their indy jacket black and then let the original brown colour come through with wear? I'd like to try it but never got around to doing anything about it. I did a search on COW but couldn't see anything on this.
Would love to know if it's been successfully attempted.
