A reason to kick myself...

Post by Panama Tom Jr. »

In early Nov. I needed a new pair of steel toe boots for work. I found a place around the corner that carried a brand I'd never seen before - Carolina boots. I found a decent pair of comfortable, non-discript boots and paid for them. It took the receipt to work and got the $90 reimbursement that my company pays once a year for steel toe boots.
Then, around mid Nov. I discovered and got stunk into the world of Indy gear and learned all about the fine details of Indy's attire, including boots. Low and behold I find that Carolina boots makes a steel toe boot that passes for Aldens - and guess how much: $89.99.
I'm not eligable for another $90 shoe reimbursement till Nov. 2004.
If I had discovered Indygear a month earlier, I'd be sitting right now in a pair of Indy style work boots and have paid $0 out of pocket.
:-s
Now, if you'll please excuse me, I'm going to go into the next room and beat my head against the wall.... ](*,)

Doh... One of the many side-effects of Indy Gear.

By any chance do you have a link to the shoes online?

[Voice=Bill_Clinton] I feel your shame, back in Arkansas I passed on a waitress who would... [bites_lower-lip][Voice=Bill_Clinton]

I know the feeling. I remember wanting to crawl into a hole and die when I saw that the last Stetson I bought cost MORE then the Akubra I should have bought!

Live and learn.

Nice lookin' boots! Is there any way that you can swing buying the boots now and turning in the receipt in November? If your employer doesn't care when you bought the boots, rather just that you have a receipt, you could get 11 good months of wear on them by Turkey Day.

Just a thought...

P.S. - I've owned a pair of Carolina's (actually 10" logging boots with steel toe) and LOVED them. I wore them every day for a couple of years. Then one day my roommates dog ate them. I was bummed.
