Trying the temple of doom gear
I'm not a super fan of Temple gear allthough it has it's magic. I am mainly a LC guy but while I am upgrading the Last crusade gear I thought I might try out the temple look with what I got.

Mine is 98% there. I've since switched hats and jackets
Re: Trying the temple of doom
Yes, Chris!
The location is extremly cool for doing temple shots! Very India like. I went back and took a few more photos when the sun had turned abit later that day.
Here they are.

Yeah, knibs, it's going to be tough to top that last photo - WITH Short Round! We can't hold a candle to that.
knibs for the win!
knibs for the win!
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
The last photo doesn't count. Short Round is not Screen accurate anymore. You should have photoshopped him too knibs!
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Just photoshop the NY Mets cap on him and it's all good.
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Believe me, if my photoshopping skills were that good I would totally do itHolt wrote:The last photo doesn't count. Short Round is not Screen accurate anymore. You should have photoshopped him too knibs!

MOD EDIT: Since we had two TOD gear threads running simultaneously, I merged them and edited a few posts for clarity and to keep things tidy.

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Knibs I am digging that S&J bridge scene fedora. Looks great. I like it alot more than the one in the picture with Short Round. The other one just looks a bit big. That bridge scene one though, thats the ticket!

Thanks, Chris. Ya I thought it was too big as well, so I got another Penman and it fits a lot better. Will be posting pics later this month

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
My dear holy mola ram!
That picture is priceless!
On the TOD note though.... through the years, I've grown an affinity for the movie and the gear. I've read alot of the pulp magazines from the day and just finished off all of the Solomon Kane stories.... and personally, TOD is closer to the adventurer in the jungle with a native side kick kinda feel. Danger of "cannibalism" from savages, etc. I like it more and more. The gear still looks like gear and less like a costume which I feel that later movies turned it into a costume.
All that being said, I'm curious. How is Wested's Temple of Doom offer? I know they'll never do a "Hero" version of TOD or LC. So, does the TOD offer require much customization?

Not any worse than having a thread dedicated to my screen accuracyHolt wrote:Haha..

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
yes, it's different!
That's why I said ''screen accurate'' in the subject title.
And I allways say. ''what do YOU think'' ''what can be improved''? opinions? etc...
It's a wee bit different to I got 98% accurate gear. lol.

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
I think we're all afflicted with screen-accurate OCD. "Well... my LC gear is 99.85% accurate to this scene, if you pause the Blu-ray while the shadows fall on Indy from this angle and the sunlight hits the crown of his hat just so... but you really have to squint your eyes. There. Do you see it now? I *told* you I'm screen-accurate! And best of all, I only spent 1/3 of my retirement savings to get there!" Harrison would be so proud of us.

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
I kind of believe that the Temple hat had some scenes where the pinch was a tight almost Raiders style pinch. For instance, the scene where Indy returns the rock to the village, the hat and brim have a more or less Raiders look. And the black and white photograph above has a somewhat raiders pinch. It's either that or the lighting.

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Yup I guess you did. But still, I think the pinches on some versions of the ToD hats could be a little bit tighter...

Awesome work Knibs! I especially like the hostage shot. You put that other Indy to shame.
Tell me, were you hesitant at first to modify the shirt? I would be!

Great stuff Knibs.
Who is the girl in the green and red?
I was going to head up to Dallas, but the weather and flooding made me stay here in Houston, how was the travel?

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Looks like your crease got pushed up a bit.
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Not only that it looks like you ordered one size too big!
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Ya, I still feel like it's a bit too big. The sizing is fine bc if I had it any smaller I would probably get a headache. So... any suggestions?
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Thanks, Chris! I was hesitant at first, but I knew I had 2 backup Temple shirts in case I messed up, so that made it a little easierChrisMD wrote:Awesome work Knibs! I especially like the hostage shot. You put that other Indy to shame.

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Suggestions? Yeah, different hat!
Did you sew the shirt opening to hold open? Looks like you did!

Didn't have to... my bag was pretty weighed down with wallet, cell phone, Sankara stone (for the most part)Holt wrote:

Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Awesome whip marks. To be honest I never even thought about that. Well done.
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
I think that's the best aging work I've ever seen on a bag strap. Looks like you've really been fighting Mola Ram hanging on that bridge. The jacket is awsome, too. And Holt's holster's distressing is amazing, too.
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
Thanks so much! My bag strap is my favorite piece of gear, aside from my whips.Odo wrote:I think that's the best aging work I've ever seen on a bag strap. Looks like you've really been fighting Mola Ram hanging on that bridge. The jacket is awsome, too.

Great pictures!
The whip shot by the river is perfect!
Congrats.-
Re: Show us your Temple of Doom gear
That 3rd pic looks exactly like the part of the river they were drifting along when the Mayapore shaman began trailing the raft.
WILLIE: "Oh, where are we, anyway?"
INDY: (spots shaman) "India."
