Hey all, my jacket needs to have its cotton lining cleaned. Simply put, it smells! Have any of you done this? And if so how?

One simple trick is to turn your jacket inside out and hang on a hanger out in the sun and fresh air outside all day.

The natural ozone does wonders to naturally remove smells from cotton linings.

I got one once that reeked of cigar smoke. After a couple days outside, clean smelling,

I have (on multiple occasions) placed my entire leather jacket in the washing machine...detergent and all. :Plymouth:

And I've never gotten anything but great results. Your experiences may vary

I've actually just inherited this one. It's a HH A-2 that's in great shape except for the smell. It's rather "musty". There are no stains to the lining but I did locate some dog hairs. I can't say it smells like dog, but just trying it on was kinda offensive.

Second Michaelson's suggestion. Fresh air and sun shine will work wonders.

I've hung it outside to see what happens. In times past, I have been known to turn a jacket inside out and give the lining a good rinse under the shower head. I suppose I'm kinda hesitant as this lining is 100% cotton and the leather horse. Which I have no experience with.

I agree with the outside. Just make sure it's covered if you live in an area with heavy bird populations. This comes from personal experience...
