Updated Indy Gear

I'm sure this has been done in the past, but I saw a few items today on shopping online that made me want to update Indy's look with a modern flair.

Jacket:
- US Wings Urban Adventure in Brown

Shirts:
- Columbia Insect Blocker in Fossil
- Columbia Silver Ridge in Fossil

To break up the browns:
- Columbia Silver Ridge in Tradewinds Grey
- Columbia Silver Ridge in Mountain

Pants:
- Kathmandu Cardeto in Otter

Boots:
- Clarks Newbern Hi in Brown

Bag:
- Fossil Commuter in Green

I've ordered the pants already as they were on sale, and will look to purchase a few more items over the coming week or two.

Well in keeping with the theme, I didn't mind this Mesh Twill Indy:

That would work in the humid and hot locales of his work, but not sure it would be very useful in wet situations. :-k

;)

True. Could always alternate between the Mesh Hat and this Weathered Cotton:

No. Since Penman Hats is a modern company with vintage style hats, Indy would naturally wear one of those. :D

Agreed! Easier to pack too!

Would you believe Dorfman Pacific actually makes a pretty decent one?

My daughters boyfriend purchased one at Disney World a couple weeks ago and wore it in a blizzard in Knoxville recently. Performed perfectly.

I was quite surprised, and it is well made too!

I have that weathered cotton one as well as all of Disney's other offerings. Not a bad hat. It hangs on the wall in the guest room. I wear it sometimes it is a nice lid for a change.

The have it at Macy's and amazon. Also, in different colors

Pants and Boots arrived today:

The boots seriously feel like wearing sneakers they are so comfortable, and the pants are a light quick drying material but also feel hard wearing.

Not exactly modern, but I just won this M1938 Dispatch Bag on eBay. Looks like a nice alternative to the Mkvii:

It has rings on the back, so it can hopefully accept a leather strap.

Nice looking setup Clark, I like the sort of modern interpretation, and you could wear it around with necessarily being in "costume". Also I really love my Clarks shoes, and those boots must be super comfortable.

M1938 Dispatch Bag arrived yesterday and got around to some distressing today. It was a really dark olive drab this morning. Not so much now:

And compared to my Magnoli MkVii:

The D-Rings are temporary as I've ordered some O-Rings as replacements, so I've used the hardware it came with until they arrive.

Good idea. The D rings have a tendency to rotate sideways after a while, eventually wearing out the canvas loop. :M:

Your updated look is coming along nicely.

Brief suggestion, since you are going modern materials for all the other pieces, I'd suggest the same for the bag. Something in ballistic nylon, etc. rather than a cotton bag.

Indiana Jeff

Tru-spec 24/7 pants in coyote.

I liked them so much I ordered 6 pairs. 4 in coyote, 1 in olive, & one in black.

Ill second these! LOVE THEM! My work issues these. Also a great pair of tactical pants and my personal favorite...Vertyx. They make alot of great stuff and theirs are truly innovative. Reinforced everything, gussets, lots of unique pockets. Ive put my through alot. So far the only pair a cactus needle couldn't get through. (Occasionally when out shooting I'll go to sit down and not look carefully enough)

Boots finally arrived. I've already ordered some longer dark brown paracord laces, but I figured i'd borrow a lace from my Clarks to see the difference in color:

And both boots:

I just had to exchange my dr martens today. After three weeks of light use, the very rear of the sole started to detach on the right boot. Just when they were starting to get broke-in too. Overall, I really like them though. I hope the problem does not reoccur. Keep an eye on it.

Im really enjoying this thread. Until now I thought the closest we'd come to an updated Indy look was Nathan Drake.

Anyway, ive got kind of a radical idea ive been toying with for the past couple days. The outfit is cool, but the satchel really makes it look dated. When is the last time you really ever saw someone wearing one of those while hiking? How about instead of a satchel, maybe an olive camelback with leather straps. Kind of an old meets new look.

Would require some customizing, but I think it would be pretty cool looking.

I tried your suggestion on a camelbak I had at home. Not a bad idea. Just needs shorter straps and there's little to no modification required (aside from cutting off original straps):

Thinking this in either Khaki or Foliage Green (OD seems too green):

Looks fairly easy to put a leather strap on it too.

Jacket found and ordered:

I was looking around for something a little lighter than leather, and this one has the Indy vibe I was looking for.

Dri-Duck Flint - Tobacco

I really like the look of that jacket.

The only thing I can think of that I DON'T like is that quilted lining, but otherwise, spot on to what you're doing here.

I really like that jacket too. Of course you post this a few days after I get a new jacket!

I just picked up a mid weight carhart that has the "ducks back" type shell or whatever. It is actually pretty darn awesome. It is a shorter jacket, almost into the Indy realm but a tad longer. It is TOUGH. I plan to wear it on my "adventures" when a leather is just a little less than I need even with a sweatshirt under it. Ill post a picture maybe after work today if I can. To me, it reminds me of Indygear. Not sure if anyone else will see it.

I wore one of those until it completely fell apart, Chris, and you're right, they're tough as nails.

Once again, just wish they didn't have that dang blanket lining inside, as it really limits the amount of time you can wear it in my neck of the woods.

It's easier to layer under an unlined jacket, so just a light lining would have worked out SO much better on those Carharts. I can see the same issues with the quilted lining, but that's just my opinion regarding the area I live in. :?

Regards! M

Agreed I prefer a light lining especially being a bigger guy. I overheat pretty easily. Luckily in Colorado we have a lot of "surprise jacket days" as I call them. 80 one day then you go outside at 5am the next morning for work an it's 30! I get to wear jackets alot haha.

If I could find this jacket in brown, I'd be buying it too, however there is no tag on the inside to get an item number. Purchased it a few years back and it's been on many trips since.
